When you've read Total recovery more then once you'll see why.

Enjoy what you read, learn from what you read and you'll have the knowledge to succeed.

Did you ever wonder why most people never achieve their dreams and reach their ultimate goals? Some fear success and others have no self esteem. Then, in my opinion the worst, the procrastinators and the completely hopeless. If you give it some thought I'm sure that you can list many more reasons.

Goal setting is of vital importance for your success. You could say that goals are the keys that will open the doors to your dreams. Actually goals are nothing more then realistic dreams put into words and the plan is putting those words into action. Put your dreams in writing and then develop a time frame in which to accomplish them. Most people spend more time dreaming of success then they do planning for success.

As strange as it may seem we are all equal when it comes to the time we have available to us. We have 24 hours a day, whether we use it productively or waste it that's entirely up to us. I frequently hear the complaint. "I just don't have enough time to read your book and take all your steps." This is a cop out the truth is they don't know how to manage their time or their desire for change is just not strong enough.

How well do you organize your time? I want you to make a list of how you spend your time in a 24 hour period. Start with how many hours you spent sleeping, the time you spend preparing meals and eating your meals, the time you spend getting ready for work, the amount of time you spend going and coming from work, and the hours you spend working, the time you spend watching TV and playing video games, the amount of time you spend on your computer, and finally the time you spend using and abusing. Your total, more then likely, is much more then 24 hours .Determine where you can cut back or even eliminate some of these things. If you reduce the amount of time you watch TV and cut out your drinking you'll have more then enough time to read Total Recovery and use the steps I'm giving you for recovery..

What I'm teaching you I learned from the best mind enhance people and programs in the business of rehabilitation.. How can you fail with this kind of power and it is all right at your finger tips. If you are ready to change your way of thinking and start living a more productive life and you want to do it my way, which I do believe is the easiest way. Then it's time you get serious.

Ask yourself these three questions. (1) What will Total Sobriety mean to me? (2) Can I make it my goal to change my way of thinking and change all my negative thoughts to positive thoughts? (3) Am I willing to set aside everything else in my life to achieve Total Sobriety? Take a few minutes and let these three questions take over all thought. Close your eyes, take three deep breaths, become completely relaxed and let these questions enter your subconscious mind. Now answer these three questions with positive answers and commit them to memory. Now I want you to read Total Recovery cover to cover. If you are on my site I want you to read every section, whether you deem it important or not, don't skip anything. When you have done this you have taken your first step to total recovery.

I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful messages they have send me. Your support has made it possible for me to continue helping those people who have a true desire to quit drinking and drugging. My desire to help those in need escalates to a point that success is no longer a dream it's a reality. Keep those wonderful messages coming. .. I try to reply to your messages the old fashion way by making my messages personal and directly to you. I use my auto-responder only for bulk mail and pre written messages send out to the people that I want to add to my list of friends . I never send anything to anyone who hasn't contacted me first. I set aside time to read every message and give each reply my personal touch. I meet hundreds of friends on the Internet that make what I do more than the improbable dream. . Big Daddy Cash

Introduction

I'd like to explain the primary purpose of Total Recovery. I have taken several chapters from Lost and Found, the story of my life, re-written them and added more content to write this book. My sincere attempt is to help all those in need. Lost and Found paints a picture of the events that took place while I was a victim of alcohol abuse. For ten long years I let alcohol take complete control of my very existence. I lived in what I now call the Gray World just this side of Death. It took an act of God to turn my life around and give me the courage to return to the Real World. The world where sanity takes over and insanity is sometimes treated. I know what it takes to be reborn again and I want to share this knowledge with all the poor lost soles struggling to find their way back. I've made it my goal to help everyone who is willing to try to regain a life of total sobriety. That my friends is the purpose of Total Recovery.

Since the people seeking my help for alcohol and drug related problems must have a true desire to quit and not only control but get rid of their abusive nature. I offer complete support and a definite pledge to help them cure themselves by using the same methods and techniques that I used for an absolute and total recovery. Total Sobriety is tailored to individual needs. By learning mind enhancement (changing ones way of thinking) using meditation, repetition, auto suggestion plus other methods I have outlined, drug abusers can learn to control their condition without the fear of relapse and live relatively normal lives.

To the none abuser and the abuser.

If you have been taking antidepressants and the depressive state went away, causing the doctor to take you off the medication, beware. You may experience uncomfortable symptoms as your body readjusts. These might include stomach upset, loss of appetite, or diarrhea; flu like symptoms such as a runny nose, sweating, muscle aches, or fever; and a variety of other symptoms such as tingling, restlessness, trouble sleeping, vivid dreams, fatigue, dizziness, or lightheadedness. You may also experience mood changes, such as irritability, sadness, anxiety, agitation, or crying spells. It can be difficult to know whether this is a result of stopping the medication or if the original depression is returning. The best way to tell is to wait a short time. Symptoms linked to coming off an antidepressant almost always disappear within several days or weeks. Tapering off your medicine slowly can help you avoid this problem. The steps I have outlined to change your way of thinking (Total Recovery) if followed and practiced daily will remove depression (no antidepressants) with no fear of relapse.

To prevent a relapse, it's important to continue with the exercises I have outlined even after you feel better. To remain sober and live a productive life this is a must. A MUST! (The exercises are all outlined in my book Total Recovery) .

I've dedicated this book to the hopeless and helpless individuals lost in the gray world, victims of the disease of alcohol abuse. I intend to deal with the whole person and not just the disease. There are three components critical to a sustained recovery; the body, the mind and the spirit, which combined, gives the addict back the control and stamina they need to sustain their alcohol or drug addiction rehabilitation and begin to live life to its fullest. By following my suggestions with and open mind, using my techniques, you will not only recover from your addiction, you will be in better physical and spiritual condition than you could possibly imagine.

It is a fact that drugs interfere with normal brain function and have long-term effects on the brains metabolism and activities. It is also a fact that at some point during alcohol use, changes occur in the brain that can turn alcohol abuse into addiction. Bear in mind that excessive alcohol use is not the same as addiction. Alcohol abuse occurs when an individual makes a conscious choice to use alcohol. When the body and the brain manifest the need for alcohol to function it becomes an addiction. However very few people will seek help before addiction has become a problem. The powerful effect of alcohol on the brains activities, for instance, the loss of inhibitions and the overwhelming feelings of pleasure, are the primary reasons why abusive users don't quit. Treatment can have a profound effect not only on drug abusers but on their families, friends, and society. Treatment is available through several comprehensive prevention programs, detoxification centers and alcoholic anonymous. All these programs offer short term sobriety and it is my opinion that short term sobriety is better the no sobriety at all. Don't get me wrong, thousand of people have been able to return to a normal existence through the help and assistance many of these programs offer. Some have even been able to find complete recovery. Those who have been truly successful are the ones that have found the right tools to change their way of thinking.

The user and abuser of alcohol and drugs creates a big challenge for other family members. Causing a negative effect on their quality of life. The members of the alcoholic and drug users family undoubtedly suffer from both physical and psychological ailments. Trying to deal with the constant problems of the abuser can be difficult but not impossible (there is no such word as impossible). Because their personal and social needs are neglected. The abusers lack of the ability to participate in social activities detracts from the quality of his or her life and the quality of the lives of their friends and family. My main objective with the abuser, the abusers family, and the abusers children is to restore and strengthen their dedication to life. I do this by teaching them the methods and techniques that restored my life and the lives of the people around me.

I don't sponsor AA and I don't full heartedly agree with all of their methods of recovery. However I do believe that the 12 steps and the serenity prayer are powerful tools to maintain sobriety. When it comes to working with the family and friends of the alcoholic abuser I do believe Alanon is the best program available. The biggest problem that most families effected by alcohol abuse is that through embarrassment and self denial they try to find their own solutions to the problem. Alanon is very effective in assisting families to cope and it also provides information about addiction and codependency. The members of Alanon gain there strength through mutual empowerment. So I highly recommend Alanon for the spouse and children of the abuser.

I'd like to discuss the physical effects that excessive consumption of alcohol has on the body. The amount of drinking, as well as the circumstances, play a large role determining the extent of intoxication. Consuming alcohol after eating a large meal has less of a toxic effect than drinking on an empty stomach. This can be determined by the vast extent of suffering experienced by the side effects and the hangovers. Initially light drinking will cause feelings of euphoria (lack of inhibition, cheerfulness and relaxation). However excessive drinking can lead to blurred vision , coordination problems and loss of consciousness. Extreme consumption can cause alcohol poisoning. and possible death. Once alcohol is in the bloodstream it can diffuse in nearly every biological tissue of the body. Intoxicated people will do things they would never do while sober, often overlooking social, moral, and legal considerations. Over a period of time, depending on the present health of the abuser, alcohol can cause cancer, cardiovascular disease, liver disease and many other bodily dysfunctions.

Here are some facts that relate alcohol abusers to crime. About 3 million violent crimes occur each year in which victims perceive the offender to have been drinking at the time of the offense. Among those victims who provided information about the offender's use of alcohol, about 35 percent of the victimizations involved an offender who had been drinking. About two-thirds of the alcohol-involved crimes were characterized as simple assaults. Two-thirds of victims who suffered violence by an intimate (a current or former spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend) reported that alcohol had been a factor. Among spouse victims, 3 out of 4 incidents were reported to have involved an offender who had been drinking. By contrast, an estimated 31 percent of stranger victimizations where the victim could determine the absence or presence of alcohol were perceived to be alcohol-related. Updated 08/20/07

Domestic violence is most often a problem related to alcohol and drug abuse. It is easy to put the blame for drinking or using drugs on something or someone else. Telling yourself that you really don't want to be abusive or nasty, but that when you are under the influence you just don't realize what you are doing. This in itself is a form of denial and blame-shifting. If you know that you get violent and out of control when you drink, or that there is a risk that you will, why do you continue drinking or drugging? Putting your family at risk or the constant fear of their insecurity should be the most important thing on your mind? If you are serious about wanting to change your abusive tendencies, then the first thing you have to do is deal with your alcohol or drug addiction and then you will be free to deal with the underlying issues within yourself which 'allow' you to turn violent or out of control while either drunk or on drugs. It's all in the way you think! You can change your way of thinking by following a few simple and easy steps. It is all right here in Total Recovery.

Note: Where I've used the word abuse in my text it generally refers to Alcohol and Drugs. I received a complaint saying I was misusing abusing. Sorry!

THE ANSWERS WE SEEK

Let us say that you have been able to quit using what ever you have been abusing for a few months and sadly returned to the same abusive nature. Let us also surmise that the urge for your substance of choice was so strong that deep down you knew you would return to alcohol or drugs. You could not face the day to day challenges To cope, you thought you really needed the drugs or the drink to handle your personal problems. You really have the desire to quit for good but when you reach a certain point you just don't know what to do. You've looked for answers but you haven't been able to find the solution. You also know that each time you quit your return to the same situation will get worse. Past experiences have made you aware that each time you start using again it becomes harder to quit and you know that in some point of time you won't be able to quit. After making all these conclusions the question remains. "What am I going to do?

Well believe me! That's a good question? Because this is where a lot of abusers get stuck. And this is really what Total Recovery is all about.

Let us face the simple fact, quitting is the easiest part of recovery. Over a period of time you can become an expert on quitting. There are so many ways to quit that I could write a whole chapter on quitting. A few examples would be time spent in jail, time spent on a mental ward, time spent in detox or a recovery center. The people who still care about you might even tie you up and lock you in a room. These things will all get you off whatever you've been on at least for a short period of time. The solution is to keep you off. Again Total Recovery has the answers.

Addiction is so diverse that it effects all of us on different levels simultaneously. It really doesn't matter what substance or combination of substances you are taking. The chemicals that affected you are as unique as your thumbprint and as individual as your social security number.

The point is certain factors come into play, such as, Physical, Psychological and Spiritual. Your condition health wise has to be recognized and treated. Your mind has to be attended to by removing all negative thoughts and replacing them with positive thoughts. Your spiritual attitude has to be re overhauled to except faith and the existence of God. What it all boils down to is a complete change of your thinking. Trust me, your mind can easily take care of all of the contributing factors.

The reason it is so complicated is because we as humans are complicate. That is why I treat the whole you, Body, Mind and Spirit. To attain Total Recovery you need a true desire to quit your substance abuse. Until you get serious about getting all of you fixed, you're likely to keep on having problems. You must be totally committed if my plan or any other plan will work.

As a total recovered alcoholic I can show you the way the rest is all up to you.

Alcohol research seeks to answer these questions: What are the genetic and molecular factors in the brain that determine these differences in how we respond to alcohol? How does alcohol change "hardwired" functions of the brain to cause physical dependence? What role do environmental factors play in alcohol dependence? Can we design interventions that disrupt these biologic and environmental pathways, to prevent alcohol's harmful effects? In each of these areas and others, we are making advances.

ALCOHOL IS UNIQUE

Submitted by the Counsel on National Alcohol Abuse

Among substances of abuse, alcohol is unique in a number of ways. It is a toxin that can cause damage to any tissue in the body. The resulting diseases range from certain kinds of cancer to liver and heart disease. Alcohol also is unique in the pervasiveness of its actions in the nervous system and the body's command center, through which alcohol exerts its behavioral effects. Rather than affecting only one or a few neurotransmitter systems - that is, the crucial chemical systems through which components of the nervous system communicate with each other and with the outside world - alcohol affects every neurotransmitter system that has been researched to date.
Alcohol also affects parts of the membrane that surrounds nerve cells, the "point of entry" for substances of abuse, that illegal drugs do not appear to affect. These factors greatly complicate the search for alcohol's sites of action in the nervous system
Another of the ways in which alcohol is unique among substances of abuse is that it is a food, since it has caloric value. The brain regulates appetite for food through (neuropathies), pieces of protein. Evidence suggests that, to some extent, craving for alcohol might be driven by the same or similar biochemical pathways that drive appetite.

BEHAVIORS OF ALCOHOLISM

Some people can drink lightly and occasionally and never develop problems with alcohol, while at the opposite end of the spectrum of alcohol use, it takes over people's lives and they become physically dependent on it. Between these two scenarios lie varying degrees of use and misuse. What accounts for these differences in how people respond to alcohol, differences that may decide whether or not it destroys their lives?
Environmental factors -- family and peers, for example -- play a role, but variations in our nervous systems constitute the largest part of the differences in our behaviors toward alcohol. It is here that alcohol affects a multitude of biologic events that determine our propensity for drinking and our vulnerability to the biologic process of becoming dependent on alcohol. Before we have taken our first drink, the genetic and molecular make-up of our brains influences, largely, how we will respond to alcohol once we are exposed to it.
Substances ultimately stimulate the same major reward pathways of the brain. However, various substances first stimulate other, different biochemical pathways before they "light up" these major reward pathways. Thus, substances differ in the mechanisms, and in the complexity of those mechanisms, that lead to reward. The routes of alcohol's actions appear to be particularly pervasive.
Alcohol's effects on the nervous system vary throughout the life-span, from the uniquely devastating damage it causes in the fetus, to disruptions in development of the adolescent brain, to the patterns of biologic risk and damage we see in adults. Among substances of abuse, alcohol is, by far, the greatest inducer of neuralgic and other birth defects.

THE ANSWER IS IN THE WAY YOU THINK

I suggest that you buy your own print copy of "Think and Grow Rich", a classic by Napoleon Hill, and constantly refer back to it. Believe me, it will change you're your life forever. As you read through it, you will start altering your perceptions and radically change the view you have about yourself, your abilities and your potential.
The book teaches "The thirteen steps to riches" according to Napoleon Hill.
It offers many questionnaires and practical exercises in addition to all the text. It gives you clear guide lines in how to set goals, reach them and how to make clear plans to follow. You are shown how you can realize your highest potential, and succeed in anything you set your mind to.
It also teaches you not to give up, and see all your mistakes as learning opportunities.
Napoleon Hill teaches that successful people never consider temporary failure as a permanent defeat.
Think And Grow Rich was first published in 1937,Since that time it has been used as a roadmap to achievement by countless individuals. I use Think And Grow Rich as a bible for my clients. It has helped to fulfill my goal to help people move out of the gray world and into the real world.
Hundreds of my clients using the steps in this book as a guide line have found peace and serenity and have returned to a normal alcohol and drug free life. Some of them have even grown rich. As a matter of fact, over 95% of my clients are enjoying success with no fear of a relapse.

Faith Can Move Mountains

Our mountains are our circumstances. We can change any circumstance in our lives. All we have to do is have enough faith to believe when we pray, God will move that mountain away.

We live in a world where the majority of the people don't except things by faith alone. You might say we are a society of "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of people. The "show me and I'll believe" attitude is for all intents and purposes a flaw because no creation is ever manifested before it's beginning. However this attitude is defended by many as being realistic. Which I believe is the exact opposite of faith. Faith sees the possibility of all things,. The world we live in depends on positive belief, hope, and faith to continue. Negativity breeds destruction. If we depended on cynicism and negative thought, we would self destruct and cease to exist. Vision and belief come first and action follows.

It is my belief that there is a quiescent (inactive or dormant) part of your brain that when aroused will give you the potential to achieve heights beyond your imagination . All we have to do is use the right key to unlock that power. I have several keys that we can use. However first I want you to consider the primary purpose for which you are, presumably, reading Total Sobriety. Naturally, it must be to acquire the ability to cure yourself and stay free of those monsters that have invaded your life. By following my instructions on auto suggestion and the subconscious mind, as I have laid out for you in the section titled Auto Suggestion, you can convince your mind to receive that for which you ask. It will act upon your suggestion which your subconscious mind passes back to you in the form of faith.

Faith is the state of mind which you may develop at will, after you have mastered all the steps in my text. . Because it is a state of mind which develops voluntarily, through applying and using these steps.

If Jimmy Carter did nothing else for us as a president, his statement on faith was quite profound.

Jimmy Carter:

I have one life and one chance to make it count for something . . . I'm free to choose what that something is, and the something I've chosen is my faith. Now, my faith goes beyond theology and religion and requires considerable work and effort. My faith demands -- this is not optional -- my faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.

The hopeful truth remains that there is an eternal flame of the spirit in all of us and if we tend to it and give it nourishment we have the ability to create and change the world in a positive way

FAITH, LOVE and SEX, The most powerful of all human emotions. When faith is mixed with the vibration of thought the subconscious mind picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent and transmits it to Infinite Intelligence, as in prayer. (To allow wisdom to flow in freely from God's infinite intelligence is wise. Wisdom is the inflowing of the divine spirit itself.)

"I conceive prayer as the practice of the presence of God. The place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the act of admitting our need, adopting humility and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the believer. Prayer is my exercise for faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the God. A prayer asking for God's healing power

Is it natural to be frightened when I'm all alone and my sickness has taken control of my mind, body and soul. I know I'm vulnerable to all the devils false promises. I wonder and worry; knowing that my power is gone that drugs and alcohol now have complete control. I feel so all alone, even with love ones near by. My addiction lies deep inside me, and no one knows how I feel. I forsook you, God, a long time ago and now I need you to help transform my fear into faith. Everything I am, body and soul, I'd gladly turn over to your hand, God. Oh please God forgive me and come back here by my side. I know I'll find the strength to confront all my fears. If only you will trust me and take me back into your care. AMEN

God is ALL, a power much greater than ours.

Father, I pray that what so ever is needed by the reader of this page that it might be granted... Thank you Lord for listening to me.

Amen...

Repetition, affirming instructions to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary developing faith. I'm sure you have heard the statement; "Faith can move mountains". Well, put your trust in me and faith will help set you free.

Denial

Emotional denial in the short term is a way to avoid hurting our self and people we care about. However it also keeps people from taking action when the overall happiness of their life calls for it. Denial is a reason people keep themselves trapped in unhappy relationships or life situations. They know the situation is not good, but not bad enough to force them into action.

Facing the brutal facts is important to eliminating unhappiness. Facing the truth means acknowledging that you pay an emotional price every day you don't take action. It also at worst hurts, and at best, keeps your family and friends in limbo every day nothing is done to make a change. This isn't a very high price when you're living for the moment. But each day adds up and in a short time you will be avoiding the issue from one moment in time to another. Each moment is a moment of slow dying death to your self and your relationships. Your opportunity for happiness will be squandered away in a series of moments struggling to find a solutions but still in denial. The pathway to real happiness has to include a means to deal with and eliminate unhappiness that shows up in our real life situations. Eliminating unhappiness means taking action. It is only by tackling the real issues of unhappiness that we have a chance to build a new and better life. Real honesty to face the brutal facts is more than putting on a happy face and acting happy. You have to overhaul your attitude and change your way of thinking.

Denial in addiction is chiefly difficult because the problem of the substance abuse plus denial and driving can be fatal for the abuser and others. In addiction, some of the health risks associated with denial include heart disease, lung and liver disease, overdosing and brain damage. Denial is an unconscious defense mechanism which is necessary for survival. None of us can survive without a certain amount of denial to keep us in balance. However denial in regards to addiction is taken to an extreme and becomes unhealthy in that it becomes an obstacle to recovery.

People have a tendency to go into denial when they need help. One reason for denial is that people generally do not like to feel helpless and out-of-control and for the most part this is true for the abuser. The addict will blame everything and everyone except their own substance abuse for their problems. Another reason is that the addict may be using drugs or alcohol to cover up or numb unpleasant feelings and by stripping away the denial the unpleasant feelings will come to the surface.

While not all substance abusers have suffered past traumas in their lives, an inordinate amount have. Child abuse or physical abuse is as ordinary in the abusive population as are other kinds of trauma such as those suffered in wartime, rape or victims of violent crimes. Substance abusers may be using and abusing to numb their uncomfortable feelings. All of these things will eventually need to be dealt with in order for full recovery to occur.

But, no matter what the cause is of the denial, the important part is that the addict confront the defense mechanism head on.. Many times an abuser will lose a job, friends or family relationships because of their addiction and start to face the denial because their lives truly have become unmanageable. The addict may be in denial at some times, and facing reality at others, so addiction in denial may be fluid especially in the beginning stages of recovery.

Imagine for a moment, that you could be well forever, not for just one miserable day after another. Imagine no more therapy, group counseling sessions or daily twelve step meetings. No more loneliness and depression. These are not idle dreams; they can be reality.

I have researched many so called miracle and magical treatment programs to insure my recovery and success. I have found that most all of them are good to a point, unfortunately, at least to my knowledge none that I researched offered total recovery. Alcoholism is a treatable disease and the most successful treatment is a strong desire to quit and the courage and willingness to endeavor where others have failed. It would be nice if there were a pill you could take to cure this disease, but no medical cure is available. Regardless of how someone is diagnosed as alcohol dependent or how they came to realize they have a serious drinking problem, the first step to treatment is a sincere desire to quit. Alcoholics who are pressured into treatment by social pressure or forced to quit by circumstances rarely succeed. It takes pure guts and determination as well as the power of positive thinking and a complete change of mental behavior to find success in any endeavor. Most alcoholics who seek help on their own volition have several relapses before they obtain long-term or total sobriety. Very few alcohol and drug abusers ever stay clean and free for ever.

TOTAL SOBRIETY WITH MY HELP

To be successful in anything, you have to look in the future not in the past. Forget and forgive yourself for the mistakes you have made. Make a new beginning and let your mind know who you are, what you want from life, and where you want to go with your life, Moving from the Gray World into the Real World is a blessing in disguise and new doors will open.

Life can be anything you want it to be, you have to make it happen. Set your dreams and goals high and look for new opportunities. You have a chance to do what you may have only dreamed of doing before. It takes strength and courage and healing comes as you take that step forward and endeavor to move on. Starting over takes hard work and dedication but keep in mind the best things in life will be your reward.

We all have our problems and we can all make excuses. When it gets right down to it, who do we blame and what do we blame for substance abuse?

If you have an answer then I wish you'd tell me. If you have the right answer you don't need my help.

Unusual circumstances such as broken relationships, loss of a love one, losing your job, and many more traumatic experiences can be called the underlying causes of substance abuse.

Most alcohol treatment programs claim that if you can uncover the cause, the abusive problem will end. I'm here to tell you that is not the truth.

Open your mind and we will look at this a little closer. If circumstances are the cause, then how come the majority of people handle these problems then move on to live a normal life? Can you see where I'm leading you? Let me paint you a clear picture, finding the underlying cause is not the solution. Overhauling your mind and completely changing your way of thinking is the solution.

I've worked with alcohol and drug abusers for the past ten years and I've received hundreds of success stories that I could tell. My service is free because I've made it my goal to help those in need. I'll work with you on a one to one basis and supply you with all the knowledge I have. My methods and techniques are not excepted by other rehabilitation programs, but I've got the proof that they work. I help my clients to cure themselves so they can remain drug and alcohol free for the rest of their lives.

With the proper tools and a true desire by you, I'll guarantee that together we will find the solutions so that alcohol and drugs will never be a problem again.

A person's psychological condition is at least partially responsible for their addiction whether it be alcohol or drugs .

There may be traumatic memories that remain overwhelming which contribute to chronic self-medication.

Painful memories may be covered with layers of forgetfulness.

Bad memories can disturb you on a conscious even a subconscious level

You may be unable to cope with all of life's circumstances. It takes someone who has lived in the gray world and recovered to assist you and help you discover your hidden pain or trauma . By working together we can formulate a treatment .

I offer you private one-on-one sessions that help you to identify these areas and to heal them. The most important thing that I can do for you is give you the keys to the vehicle that will give you the drive to cure yourself.

Let's Get Started

The first thing we want to do is set up a goal and make a definite plan to achieve it. Clearly write down a description of your ultimate aim and post it where you'll see it everyday, several times a day. Now say to yourself that you'll never stop trying until you gain the self confidence needed for it's attainment. Don't let anything stand in your way. It's a definite must to change your current way of thinking. The cure is in a behavioral thought process. You are your own healer and you can accomplish anything you set your mind on.
Now say to yourself , I know that I have the ability to achieve a definite purpose in life. Therefore I demand of myself persistence and continuous action towards it's attainment. I give myself a solemn promise to render such an action. I realize the predominant thoughts in my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in an outward physical action and gradually transform themselves into a physical reality. Therefore I will consciously apply my thoughts thirty minutes each day picturing the person I want to be and that I intend to become. I also know that through the use of auto-suggestion any desire that I hold in my mind will eventually express itself and give in to the object of my intention. So I will demand of myself the self confidence by devoting thirty minutes a day feeding my mind with this thought. " I will succeed regardless of set backs. I can accomplish anything I set my mind too".
Procrastination is the tool of the devil. Stop and ask yourself a moment...just how much has procrastination cost you over the years? Has it cost you your self respect? Have you lost out on great opportunities, only to watched someone else take advantage of them? Besides the losses in pure dollars and cents (and make no mistake about it, being a procrastinator does make you poorer) the biggest cost to you is what procrastination does to you, to your self-image and to your fulfillment of life. Let's face it, you are a substance abuser and if you keep procrastinating you'll stay a substance abuser. So let's change your way of thinking right now. By learning how to stop putting things off you'll be more efficient, have more self confidence and have much less stress. You'll also find it much easier to perform daily tasks and accomplish anything you set your mind too. Procrastination is only a state of mind - one that you can easily change. Take a few minutes each day and tell yourself you'll not put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Eventually it will become a habit.
I want you to realize that no success or self cure will endure for any length of time unless it is built upon honesty and integrity. Engage in no transaction that doesn't benefit all of those it affects. You will find success in your own forces plus gain the cooperation of others. You will, by serving others, induce others to serve you. By eliminating the traits that cause a negative attitude in others as well as yourself and developing a love for all humanity you will regain the trust of others finding total sobriety and a lifetime of success.
Now I want you to review the previous four paragraphs commit them to memory if possible and repeat them several times each day for the next two weeks..

You can be the Master of Your Destiny by following these few simple steps.

The next section of my book is a description of detoxification. Before you start Total Recovery it's of vital importance that the poisons be removed from your body so that we can start with a clean body and mind.

Detoxification

Let us consider the fact that you have been drinking, shooting or inhaling for a long time, it only stands to reason that your body is saturated with alcohol or drugs. These poisons have to be removed by professionals, so that serious withdrawals don't occur. The best place to start detox is in the colon since our colon acts as a garbage disposal. We could actually compare the function of the colon in our bodies to a sewer system in a large city. Just imagine for a second what would happen if the sewers in your area became clogged by some debris. Undoubtedly, within a short time the whole neighborhood would be filled with filth and an unbearable stench. This is the same process that occurs in our bodies when the elimination system is not functioning properly. When the colon is clean and healthy, we experience an overall well-being. When it is congested with stagnant waste, poisons back up into the system and pollute the inner environment. This is called autointoxication or self-poisoning. Detoxification has to done and is an important part of the cure. A clean body and a receptive mind makes our job (yours and mine) a whole lot easier.

The three main models for drug and alcohol detoxification are the social, medical and rapid detoxification. The social detoxification model is for those with moderate drug and alcohol dependency problems that do not have a long-history of chemical dependency issues and are medically able and willing to go through detoxification without the use prescribed detoxification drugs. The social model may or may not be medically supervised and emphasis is upon being in a supportive environment with other like-minded individuals who are struggling with the same issues and offering support.

The medical model of detoxification is for those with severe substance abuse issues, or those who are in poor health or have other existing medical conditions, who need medical intervention and prescribed medications to aid in the detoxification process. Medical detox is completed under the close care of a physician and supporting medical staff. Medical detox is necessary for those with severe alcoholism in order to combat the withdrawal effects of seizure, Delirium Tremors (DT's) and autonomic hyperactivity.

Medical detoxification is also required for many of those with addictions to both illegal drugs and prescribed medications. Medications can be given to individuals that will aid in the pain and discomfort of withdrawal. Medication can also aid in the ridding of toxins from the body and help with some of the withdrawal effects such as tremors, vomiting, severe body pain and sometimes hallucinations. For some with opiate addictions, medications such as Methadone, levo-alpha acetyl methadone (LAAM) or Naltrexone (which may also be inserted under the skin for release over time) may be used in detoxification and in ongoing treatment.

The rapid detoxification model, which has been in existence about 10 years now, is for some substance abusers with opiate addictions, who need special medications to cleanse the client's opiate receptors. Rapid detoxification may be completed in just 5 -8 hours while under general anesthesia inside an intensive care unit, under the supervision of a physician and anesthesiologist. Follow-up medication is also given to help break the opiate addiction. Medication such as Subutex (the sublingual form of buprenorphine/buprenex) or Naltrexone may be used at rapid detoxification centers.

Some other non-traditional detox programs may include bio-physical treatment, nutritional detoxification and faith-based detoxification programs. Bio-physical treatment may include sauna, exercise and vitamins as part of the program. The nutritional detoxification program uses megavitamin therapy, nutritional supplements and diet to achieve results. Faith-base programs resemble the social model, but with emphasis on specific religious beliefs.

Ideally, drug and alcohol detoxification centers should provide counseling along with the detoxification services to help those substance abusers with the psychological and emotional distress that usually accompanies withdrawal. Follow-up treatment in a short-term, long-term or outpatient rehab center is also highly recommended in order to assure recovery over the long haul.

Auto Suggestion and Self Suggestion

The subconscious mind makes no distinctions between thought impulses whether they be constructive or destructive. It works on what ever material it's fed. It will translate thoughts driven by fear just as readily as it translates thoughts driven by courage and faith. Those who go down in defeat and end their lives in drunkenness, poverty, and distress do so because of a negative application of the principle of auto suggestion ( All Impulses of Thought Have a Tendency to Clothe Themselves in Their Physical Equivalent ). The law of auto suggestion that allows a man to rise to heights of staggering imagination can best be understood in the following verse.

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't.
It's all most certain you won't

If you think you'll lose, you're lost
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellows will,
It's all in the state of mind

If you think you are outclassed, you are
You've got to think high and rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man Who Thinks He Can !

Always be positive in the way that you think and feel and you'll always get a positive reaction. I spent a life of "Hell" in the Gray World and by using the methods that I'm giving you from my heart, I was able to return to the Real World and now I'm living a happy and successful life.

BREATHING EXERCISES:

Basically, this is what you do: FIRST clear your mind of everything. this includes worries, brought about by substance abuse, work stress, troubled relationships, everything and anything. SECOUND.. Inhale through your nose as deeply as you possibly can. THIRD when you feel like you have reached your lungs maximum capacity, keep trying until you cannot breathe in anymore. FOURTH now hold it for a few seconds, and exhale through your mouth slowly, taking 3-4 seconds to fully exhale. Repeat this and keep doing it for as long as you feel able, I do this every morning when I get up and every evening before I go to bed. See if you can at least do this for 20 minutes a day.

Here is another way that I sometimes do deep breathing. I enjoy taking long walks So I breath in deeply when I take 5 steps and slowly exhale when I take the next 10. I repeat this several times while enjoying my walk. Our life energy is carried in our breath

This practical effort to focus completely on our breathing takes our minds away from the "mind clutter" that constantly tries to invade our mind and eliminate feelings that will lead to a time of calm. With repeated effort the goal of clearing your mind (to think of nothing), does occur and the process of meditation takes on its own energy. The result is, and I guarantee this, peace, serenity, calmness, eventually opening yourself up to new insights.

Breathing exercises make it easier to do the relaxation exercises that prepare you for auto suggestion, meditation, self hypnosis and other mind enhancing exercises. They are simple, they take very little time and they put you in the right frame of mind.

Auto suggestion applies to all suggestion and all self administered thoughts and ideas that reach the mind through our senses. Auto suggestion and self suggestion are basically the same. Simply put, it is a way for the conscious mind to communicate with the subconscious mind. We have complete control over all the thought that reaches our subconscious mind, therefore it is the best way to change the way we think. We can completely change our life using a few simple steps. You can liken your subconscious mind to that of a fertile garden in which weeds will grow in abundance if the seeds are not desirable. Auto and self suggestion is the method which we use to feed our mind with creative thoughts and ideas. By neglect we permit thoughts and ideas of a destructive nature to find their way into the fertile garden of the mind.

One of the major weaknesses of the average person is the word impossible. We know all the things that will not work and we know all the things that cannot be done. I suggest that you take the word impossible out of your dictionary and replace it with the phrase " All Things Are Possible. Those who succeed in life are success conscious and those who fail are failure conscious. What I am teaching you is the art of changing your mind from failure conscious to success conscious. Your abusive habits have steeped you in poverty, want, failure, misery and defeat. Now were going to change all of that and change your way of thinking to the valuable and rewarding things in life.

Our brains have become magnetized with the dominating thoughts that we hold in our minds. These magnetic thoughts attract us to the people and the circumstances of life which harmonize with nature and control our thoughts and ideas. I have outlined six definite and practical steps that will help you reach your goals. They are simple and easy to follow.

This is one of the methods I use to exercise my mind and change my way of thinking. It's my way to meditate in a light hypnotic state or even take it deeper. Make a list of the kind of suggestions that you want to present to your mind before you lie down and relax, otherwise it may interrupt your state of meditation.

Relaxation Exercise

(1) Go to a comfortable place where you won't be disturbed relax in any comfortable chair or lie down on your bed .

(2) Close your eyes and try to rid your mind of any hostile feelings. At first, you will find it difficult not to think. Thoughts and Ideas will keep intruding. When this happens, don't try to force the thoughts out. Observe them , and let them slowly fade away.

(3) Now let's get rid of the tension in your body. Beginning with your toes, imagine the tension slowly falling away and vanishing. Imagine it freeing each body part one at a time starting with your toes and working its way up your body. Visualize each part of your body becoming lighter and lighter as the tension is removed. relax your toes, then your feet. Continue with your calves, thighs, hips, stomach and so on, until you've relaxed each portion, including your face and head.

(4) Take slow, deep breaths. When you exhale, see the tension and negativity leaving in a dark cloud. As you inhale, see the air returning as a bright force filled with life and energy.

(5) Appreciate the fact that you are now extremely relaxed. Imagine you are at the top of a flight of 10 stairs. Picture every detail of this scene from the top to the bottom. Tell yourself that you are going to descend the stairs, counting each step down, starting at 10. Picture each number in your mind. Imagine that each number you count is further down and one step closer to the bottom. After each number, you will feel yourself drifting further and further into deep relaxation. As you take each step, imagine the feel of the step under your feet. Keep counting and stepping down until you reach the bottom. Once you reach the bottom imagine that you are happy and relaxed.

(6) At this point, you should begin to address the issue you're concerned about. Speak in the present tense. Your subconscious mind does not understand negatives in speech - avoid using statements with negative connotation such as "I don't want to be a miserable drunk." Instead, say, "I am calm and relaxed and alcohol isn't my problem." Examples of positive statements "I am strong and I won't surrender to weakness," "I am successful and positive," and, if you have pain, "I feel wonderful."
Repeat your statement(s) to yourself as many times as you wish.

(7) When you are satisfied, say to yourself that you will now count upwards to 10 from 0, and when you reach the number 10, you will slowly rise back to normal consciousness and remain calm and relaxed. Proceed to count upwards, again picturing the numbers in detail.

You can make more precise impressions stimulating your mind to except positive suggestions easier and quicker using this simple relaxation method. Using the same method up to and including step six will prepare you for this next exercise and the exercise that follows.

(1) Make yourself completely aware of what you are trying to achieve and make it a definite goal. Picture your life as you want it to be. Paint that picture permanently in your mind.

(2) Keep in mind that you don't get something for nothing. What are you willing to give in return for this gift.

(3) Establish a date, time and place that this will happen. Will it be now?

(4) Establish a definite goal and make a plan for carrying it out. Begin at once whether you are ready or not. Take action.

(5)Write out your plan and be concise. Describe every detail. What you will do to achieve it. What you will give in return. When it will happen.

(6) Read your written word aloud, twice daily, once in the morning and once at night. As you read, see, feel and believe that you are all ready there.

It is important that you follow theses instructions. The object is to want this more than anything and become so determined that you will have it, that it becomes an obsession.

Bear in mind this is only a few of the techniques that I use. Meditation Retention, repetition and memory are others.

Take a good look at your life. Has alcohol or drugs numbed your brain and taken from you what you really wanted your life to become? Have you given up on creating the ideal life you once dreamed of having? Has substance abuse caused your life nothing but misery and pain? I have been their and I know your answers to these questions. Thank God I found the solutions before it was to late. I found out that not only substance abusers but most people settle for the life they are living. Nobody has to settle for a life in the Grey World (Alcohol, Drugs and Crime) or a life that is just ordinary. Unfortunately most people except what life dishes out. The solutions to recovery are the steps that I'm teaching. I know they work because they've worked for me and countless others. I want you to discover your purpose in life by using your own creative energies to attain that purpose.

It is important for you to dream big and set positive goals for what you're seeking to accomplish. I don't want you to miss out on your own true potential. Nothing is impossible it's up to you to make it possible. Once you know what you want, the next step is to manifest it into your life.

The steps that I've outlined for meditation will put your body to asleep. Your subconscious mind will be brought to the conscious level and you will be in full control over your mental abilities and thoughts.

Before I continue I'd like to quote what William James, the Harvard psychologist known as the Father of American Psychology, had to say about the power of the subconscious mind.

"The greatest discovery of the 19th century was not in the realm of the physical sciences, but the power of the subconscious mind touched by faith. Any individual can tap into an eternal reservoir of power that will enable them to overcome any problem that may arise. All weaknesses can be overcome, bodily healing, financial independence, spiritual awakening, prosperity beyond your wildest dreams. This is the superstructure of happiness."

Meditation

Repetition and retention amplifies and intersects with sense. I use them both to help me memorize and write.

This is repetition of a negative kind, referring to men of crime; "When men first come into contact with crime, they abhor it. If the remain in contact with crime for a time, they become accustomed to it, and endure it. If they remain in contact with it a long enough, they finally embrace it, and become influence by it." You could reword it just a little bit and it could apply to substance abuse or change it around to a positive nature and it could apply to recovery. This would be an interesting exercise. Why don't you try it, and see what you can come up with.

Memories are constructions made in accordance with present needs, desires, influences, etc.

Memories are often accompanied by feelings and emotions.

Memory usually involves awareness of the memory. We may not be conscious of the fact but memories are claimed to be significant causal factors in shaping conscious thought and behavior. There is a great deal of supportive evidence for the claim that the more traumatic an experience, the more likely one is to remember it. There is also evidence that extreme traumatic experiences are forgotten and hid in our subconscious mind.

Anyway, I like to use different methods of meditation and again it is my educated opinion that meditation is a good way to get rid of stress, sleep better, eliminate anxiety, relieve depression, boost intelligence, creativity and confidence, slow ageing, increase energy, and create remarkable emotional changes at the deepest level? The experience of deep meditation is so powerful it immediately begins to create profound, positive changes in the structure of your nervous system and your life!

Alpha Level Exercise

With this exercise we will enter your center brain
frequency, the level for deep relaxation, The Alpha Level

While in the Alpha Level, you will experience the beneficial effects of Meditation. Once You Learn to Reach the Alpha Level, you can use these techniques too: reduce stress speed up your body's natural mental healing change your attitudes, get rid of negative habits, apply creative visualization and use your intuition.

(Intuition "The ability to sense or know immediately without reasoning",

When meditating several important things happen physically and mentally. We "focus internally" and let go of the outside world (the same as going to sleep, but without losing consciousness).

This permits our brains to change into a more stable and stronger brain frequency normally reached during slumber.

When we can reduce our brain frequencies to these levels while staying awake we are able to bring the unconscious mind to the conscious level. This allows us to control the power of the unconscious mind.

There are two types of meditation. Passive Meditation and Active Meditation. Each method has its own way of reaching the inner state of mind. and each has its own goals.

Passively letting go and going within, we "deactivate" our survival mechanisms and allow our body's natural health and rejuvenation abilities to be activated.

Using these two techniques will allow you to use the relaxed, healthy state of mind that occurs during meditation to solve your day-to-day problems. By tapping the super-conscious to solve problems, reach goals, come up with new ideas and solutions to problems

For these next few techniques you have to be prepared with the right equipment. You will need a Walkman disk player and recorder and a musical metronome. If you don't have these items then I want you to buy them. I bought the very best of both at Amazon, COM. for about $30. Make sure you get a metronome that will let you listen to the beat. Return to this exercise when you are ready.

Now I'm going to teach you my method of self hypnosis The first exercise is a set up exercise. Pay close attention to my instructions.

(1) Make your self comfortable, relax and get ready to record. You are going to record an audio that will guide you to a healthy, relaxed level of mind. Place your metronome near the receiver and set the beat slow to medium. Record your voice in a slow monotone sound. Practice with normal phrases. Record your voice and then play it back until you get it to sound like you want it to sound. Make sure you have picked up the beat of the metronome in the background. You might even want to play soft beautiful music it the back ground but don't drowned out the beat of the metronome. The music can help set the rhythm of your voice.

(2) Imagine yourself as a meditation instructor or a famous hypnotist putting your subject into a trance. When you are ready you can start recording. I'll guide you through the process. Remember you are a professional instructor or hypnotist.

(3) Slowly repeat after me; "Make yourself comfortable,(short pause) Close your eyes and relax (short pause) sense the feeling of warmth caused by circulation. Relieve all tensions in your body (pause) Slowly relax , keeping in mind that it takes longer to relax your body then your mind. (medium pause) Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. place your body in a deep state of relaxation.(short pause) I'm going to guide you through relaxation process (pause) Now direct your mind to your scalp. concentrate on this part of your body .feel a deep sensation of warmth caused by circulation (pause) This is normal (pause) Feel a tingling in the skin surrounding the scalp (pause) release and completely relax all tensions and ligament pressures from this part of your body (pause). concentrate on relaxing all the parts of this part of your body including the skin, tissues and the cells (pause) Feel a deep sensation of warmth and tingling (pause) This is normal, caused by circulation (pause) Deeply relax and relieve all the tensions and pressures in this part of your body.(pause) release and completely relax all tensions and ligament pressures from this part of your body (pause) Go deeper and deeper every time. (pause) Let your mind feel your body healthier and healthier every time.(pause)

Note: Go through this whole process for each part of your body all the way down to the heals on your feet. ( your eyes and eyelids, your nose, your lips, your throat, your shoulders, your chest, your stomach, your waist, your abdomen, your thighs, your knees, your calves, your ankles, your feet toes and heals).

(4) Concentrate on your feet, remove them from your body, they do not belong to your body. (pause) Your feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, waist, arms, hands and shoulders feel like they do not belong to your body. (pause) Your are now at a deeper healthier state of mind then before. (pause)

Note: Now you have your subject (you) in a deep state of relaxation. It's time to enter positive resources. First enter a tranquil and passive scene. Example; A walk through the woods on a beautiful summer day when the breeze is gentle, the birds are singing, and the squirrels are playing happily in the trees.

(5) Describe a scene in which you feel beauty, comfort and joy.(long pause) Describe another scene that makes you feel happy and comfortable (pause) Visualize your self being happy and healthy ( You'll see these scenes in your mind when you are listening to your recording)

(6) (Record this) You mind is now in a deep state where you have complete control, deeper then before.

(7) Enter a positive resource state. Example. I am the master of my destiny, I'm stronger and wiser then I've ever been, etc

(8) Now anchor and test anchor.

(9) Break State counting backwards from 10. When you reach 1 open your eyes and be wide awake.

(10) Congratulate yourself

Remember this;

1. Start to "concentrate" right from the beginning of your recording when you sense the awareness of your scalp area. Start practicing concentration, practice makes for perfection.. Establish your "awareness" focus a colorful light into that area
2. When you are coached to detect the vibrations in that area, such as, "feeling of warmth caused by circulation" concentrate on trying to feel the pulsations of those vibrations in that area.. Of course, it is the blood circulation we are talking about. You may not feel them on your first try, but keep practicing and eventually you will.
3. When your recording instructs you to "release and completely relax all tensions and ligament pressures from this part of your body". Concentrate on it, and amplify your imagination. Imagine your scalp being fully relaxed.

When you combine your body relaxation with mind relaxation you will be much more relaxed at the end of that exercise. The more you practice, the easier it will be to relax completely. Practice makes perfect!

The more you go into alpha, learn to visualize, relax, and tune into your intuition, the healthier and better your life becomes.

My techniques are all simple yet really effective in the way you change your way of thinking. Everyone has a threshold for what they can handle coming at them from the world. When that threshold is exceeded, we attempt to deal with being pushed over it with a variety of coping mechanisms, including anxiety, anger, depression, overwhelm, sadness, substance abuse, and many others. The main thing meditation does is provide a stimulus to the brain that pushes that threshold higher.

There are several exceptional CD's that can help you change your way of thinking through meditation using audio suggestion. Preprogrammed suggestions by leading psychologists do wonders for your mind. However self induced suggestions pre recorded by you are the most effective. Buy yourself a small recorder and record the messages that you want to use to change your thinking and stimulate your mind. You can meditate while you're sleeping. Don't procrastinate, do it. This technique works faster than you can imagine. When you go to bed tonight use the steps I use to put my mind in a hypnotic state and set your recorder to play the suggestions while you sleep.

By using these two exercises I noticed that my mind is getting sharper, that mentally things seemed to flow better. As amazing as it sounds, and this is a fact, I find myself becoming more intelligent, more focused, more intuitive, and more creative. My memory is better and I seemed to easily find solutions to problems and situations that had given me trouble before.

There is no better way to control or completely eliminate abusive drinking from your life then the methods that I offer you. I've already stated that it is my opinion that Alcoholic Anonymous does a great job as far as they go. However 45% of the people who attend AA meetings never return after their first meeting and 95% never return after their first year. Based on Alcoholics Anonymous World Services' own statistics AA has only a 5% successful retention rate.

Those people who leave AA often look for solutions in other conventional alcohol rehabilitation programs, yet 97% of the conventional alcohol treatment centers are "12-step" or AA based, thus individuals essentially have to rejoin AA to get help. They rejoin and drop right back out.
Conventional alcohol and drug rehab centers do not work for the majority of people seeking help. Many people will have a better chance of recovering without being exposed to conventional alcoholism and drug addiction treatment programs.

All of the techniques and steps that I use in my book are powerful and easy to use. The more you practice the simple steps I teach the more your brain will streamline them, making them easier to do and re-enforce their effectiveness. In this exercise we will program a resource state into a future situation. Now use the steps that I have given you to put your mind in a relaxed state. The more relaxed you are the more powerful this exercise. Make sure you anchor and test anchor as explained.

(1) Think of what you want more of in a future situation ( Ecstasy, Joy, Happiness, Creativity, Confidence, Compassion, etc.)

(2) Breath deep breaths and take yourself deeper into a trance. Deeper and Deeper. (each time you do this you'll be able to go deeper)

(3) Imagine a time in the future that would allow you feel this resource. A time when you' feel it the strongest. Put your body and mind right into this place or time. Take yourself deeper.

(4) Completely associate with this experience. See what you saw, hear what you heard, feel what you felt. Make the colors brighter and brighter and make the sounds louder and louder. Anchor these feelings by squeezing your finger and thumb.

(5) Take note to where these feelings are in your body. What color would give you these feelings. Imagine spreading that color through out your body slowly, up and down. When the feelings are amplified squeeze your finger and thumb to capture the feeling.

(6) Now snap out of it. (Break state of mind) Look around the room. Remember something important.

(7) Test Anchor: Squeeze your finger and thumb together. If you have done the above steps right you should feel those feelings coming back.

(8) Congratulate yourself, this is important because it re-enforces the thought in your mind that that you can do this exercise

This exercise is referred to as a supreme resource state. It can be used to empower personal changes. Resource states are states of mind that can be used to positively reprogram your past, present and future.

How to make amazing personal changes fast and simple using Power Time lines. With timelines you can make positive changes to your way of thinking fast (almost instantly) and easy. We are going to use this step to process new information to your mind that will change your way of thinking and give your recovery an "emotion explosion" . It can be a little difficult right a first to except this new concept but once learned it becomes easy. Visualize your mind as being a large incredible flexible bio-super computer that represents information in an infinite number of ways. The time line is a line that takes you from the past (eg childhood), to the present and into the future allowing you to move back and forth a few degrees (meters) at a time. So let us do this experiment. I think you'll enjoy it! Once you get this concept down pat you will be on your way to massive benefits. Let's get started;

(1) I want you to find a room that is actually big enough to allow you to walk a timeline.

(2) Stand in the middle, look directly in front of you, this represents the present.

(3) When you move slightly to the left visualize moving back a year,. move a little bit further and go back 5 years, keep on moving to the left all the way back to where you were an infant. This will be the start of the line. Play with this until you are comfortable with it.

(4) Now return to the center (The Present). Moving to your right will place you in the future, imagine where you will be a year from now move a little more-2 years, a little more - 5 years etc.

(5) Notice that at any point on the timeline you can look backwards or forward, traveling from the past, to the present, to the future.

* Congratulate yourself. You have just created one of the most powerful change concepts in existence!

(6) Stand in the present, look to the left in your past, remember a time from a few years ago when you had a wonderful experience, remember it's position on the timeline. You may see a vague picture or represent this time with a symbol. If you don't see anything remember it's place on the timeline. Trust it!

(7) Remember 3 more experiences from the past and position them. Remember where they are.

(8) Now imagine 2 future events and position them. Remember where they are.

Now you are ready to do an amazing "emotion explosion" ( don't you just love that phrase, it was introduced to me by a Russian pen pal.)

(9) Think of a negative emotion, that you think of often, that you would like to change.(guilt, nervousness, resentment)

(10) Put yourself in the Present position on the timeline.

(11) Move slowly to the left until you get to the time you first felt that negative emotion.

(12) Keep moving to the left and stop every time you feel this emotion. Remember the positions on the timeline. Go back as far as you can to the first time you felt this emotion.

(13) Skip and make the next step 14

(14) Now step back of the timeline and picture it in front of you. Notice the memories that you have positioned. Trust Them

(15) Out of all the times you've experienced this negative emotion what resource state would allow you to feel normal? Replace the negative emotion with a positive emotion. " emotion explosion"

(16) Anchor ( By pressing your thumb and finger together)

(17) Give the positive state a color and spread it through your body, slowly up and down. Now give the state a sound, remember the sound.

(18) Break State (Look around the room)

(19) Now step back on your timeline (in the middle at the Present). Step to the left and Re observe your negative states. Look for the symbols, the pictures, the colors and sound.

(20) Trigger your anchor by squeezing your thumb and finger together. Re- experience the pictures, the symbols, the colors the sound. Look for the symbols, the pictures, the colors and sound and remember them as a mist permeating the entire time line.

(21) Break State

This exercise works like magic. By using the time line you can make your negative thoughts become positive and more pleasant. You can change your way of thinking and you can program future events.

Never make important decisions when you are feeling down and out or when you simply feel bad. Most likely you will make bad decisions if you make them while you are in a negative state of mind. This is why most people make bad decisions. For instance, you had a fight with your boss, why not go out and get drunk, your wife is being a bitch, why not go out and commit adultery. If you are feeling good about yourself these are not the decisions you'll make. Of course you could have made decisions that were much worse; you're tired of your bosses crap so you're going to take him off the map, your wife bitches so much, why not shoot her. Feeling Bad, Bad Thinking, Bad Decisions! It is time to change your way of thinking from bad to good.

When you are feeling good it only stands to reason that you make good decisions. That makes sense, don't you think?! Feeling good more often has many more benefits such as, clear thinking, an optimistic outlook, more self esteem, better social interaction and you have more fun.

Now I'm going to teach you a technique that allows you to program good thoughts into your mind so that good feeling will come spontaneously.

In this technique we will use the timeline again and program good feelings into the future.

Go to your special room and put yourself in the present on the timeline.

Past________________ Present_______________Future

(1) Now I want you to pick a resource state that you want to experience in the future. Example; fun, joy, happiness, optimism, faith, pleasure, etc.

(2) Remember the special time you experienced this resource state. Relax and relive the memory. Get those special feelings back.

(3) Anchor your feelings with you thumb and your finger ( If you wish you can go back to step two and stake another resource state. - Example; Faith + Pleasure

(4) Now give this state a color. Spread the color through out your body. Give this state a sound. Amplify , Louder and louder. Remember the sound.

(5) BREAK STATE

(6) Think of three events in the future where it would be appropriate to feel this state. ANCHOR

(7) Notice where they are on the time line. You may see pictures or symbols or just know that they are there on the timeline.

(8) Once you are there you can allow your subconscious to symbolize other appropriate events in the future. Trust your subconscious with this. GO a year beyond your third special event.

(9) Now turn around with the anchors still triggered and see the color as a magical mist permeating all of your time line. Make some wonderful positive changes.

(10) Walk up the time line to the year beyond the third special event,

(11) Now turn around with the anchors still triggered and see the color as a magical mist permeating all of your time line. Make some wonderful positive changes.

(12) Visualize a great future! BREAK STATE.

Reminiscing

Reminiscing is another tool that I use quite often. I like to do it in the middle of the night when I'm all alone at my computer. It has brought me strength and renewed the goals I once had. It has helped me tremendously and I know it can help you. Set aside a time when you feel at ease (At least once a week). If it does nothing else it will bring you countless hours of peace, relaxation, and joy.

Reminiscence refers to recollections of memories from the past. It is familiar to us all and can be utilized for the benefit of others. For people who are afflicted with the disease of substance abuse encouraging the act of reminiscence can be highly beneficial to their inner self and their interpersonal skills. Reminiscence involves exchanging memories with the old and young, friends and relatives, with caregivers and professionals, passing on information, wisdom and skills. It is about giving the person in need a sense of value, importance, belonging, power and peace. We all use it to cope in times of stress, such as mourning, it can also help reduce injury to our self image and it can create a feeling of intimacy and give special meaning to contact time with others.

As I mentioned somewhere back in the contents of this chapter I love to write poetry and short stories. I'm encouraged by events of the past, these special events are brought to me when I reminisce. I love the magic of words and they give me a sense of power when I write. However through reminiscence you establishing identity with or without words and it's a good example of how we have to adapt, giving a valuable opportunity to acquire and use new skills of communication.

I can better explain how reminiscence works through the words of one of my poems;

As I sit here alone staring down at my keyboard
searching my mind for those magical words.
I look at the past and reminisce about all the good
things and good times that I've had.
I remember the time when the best was all mine.
My future was set and my goals were defined,
And everything was all going my way.. Everything
that I had seemed solid. .Every thing in my life seemed
so pure. I stare at my monitor and watch all of the
yesteryears fly bye. I look over at my printer and ask
myself why. Why oh why did these things pass me bye..
I miss my sweet spouse and the kids running round the
house. I miss my Blue Spruce and the yard that I groomed.
I miss the Bar B Q that I built and the family parties we had.
I miss it all, and my heart fills with tears as I think of
those years and the wonderful life I once had.
Then I say to myself "STOP" your life's not over yet,
make the best of what you have left. You've got friends
galore and so many things to be thankful for. Your wiser
now so share what you know and give help to those
full of need. Show love and compassion to all of your
friends and to all others as well. Let your heart swell with
joy and get rid of those tears. There's no room in your life
to feel sorry for yourself and the best in life is still yours. So
even though you felt lost now you've been found and it's
time to set yourself free.
"If it's gonna be it's all up to me and that's the way it has to be."

If you've read and absorbed what I've written I want you to know that I wrote it just for people like you, with a true desire to find relief (and find it the right way) and be reborn. I know for a fact by your reading this far you are well on your way to Absolute and Total Recovery. Strengthen your conviction and stay on the path that will take you where you want to be.

A Moment of Mine
Recollections from the Past

My Grandmother used to sing a song to me . . . It went something like this; . . . A story I'm going to tell of a women old and gray . . . Walking the streets in the cold and the sleets at the end of a winters day. Quite weary she sank in a chair in front of a building grand . . . when a youth inside with over bearing pride came and ordered her away from there. Next door there stood a newsboy who owned a little stand . . . He saw the poor old lady ordered from the building grand . . . He ran inside his humble store as if in childish glee . . . He brought a chair from out the place with a smile upon his face . . . As these kind words he said; ...Take a seat old lady for you are welcome here . . . You'll find it here and waiting when you pass this way . . . In silence she sat for awhile . . . poor soul she could scarcely speak . . . At last she arose and said with lips that were trembling blue . . . I'll remember you lad once I had a boy like you . . .Well, three years have come and gone since then . . .the same old place we see. . . the boy received a letter wondering from whom it could be . . . She had died without a kin , . . Left her millions all to him . . . Through these kind words he said . . . Take a seat old lady for you are welcome here . . . you'll find it here and welcome when you pass this way.
It's really something, the things you remember when reminiscing in the middle of your night My grandmother used to sing a lot of songs like this and they all seem to have so much meaning. These are things that I haven't thought about in well over 50 years. Yet I can hear them now as if she were here in person singing to me. Listen here's another one...Once there was a Dutchman who invented a terrible machine. It ground long tail rats and pussycats into sausages and things... Oh Mr. Dundenbeck how could you be so mean...For long tail rats and pussy cats nare more will be seen...Their grounded into sausages on that terrible machine. Now something got the matter with the machine it wouldn't work... So Dundenbeck got inside to see what he could do...His wife she had a night mare was walking in her sleep... She gave the crank one hell of a yank now Dundenbeck is meat. That's probably not exactly how it went but isn't it funny how things come back in the middle of the night.
Times when I'm all alone when all the work is done. These are the times when I reminisce bringing back sweet memories of days gone bye. The mind is the key to the vehicle that travels the roads and byways of time. All these journeys and their detours that couldn't be avoided come back in flashes. My mind takes me places that I had forgotten exist. The mystery is how the mind covers the hurts, disappointments, tragedies and heartbreaks with shadows so they vaguely appear. It seems like when I reminisce it's of goodness and cheer and hardly ever of the bad things that bring up a tear.
Where am I going with this? I really don't know. When I reminisce my mind rambles from here to there. I pick up bits and pieces of memories that are scattered all over my past. I sit at my keyboard typing things down at a steady rhythm not stopping until I'm through Times like this I come up with the thoughts and ideas of all that I write.. So what you're getting now is just mental jabber that may or may not lead some place. Believe it or not my best ideas come from moments like this.
This is something that I normally wouldn't put into print but I thought it would be fun to show you how my mind really works. My thoughts and ideas are stimulated and motivated by past experiences brought back in memory while reminiscing. I can touch, smell, and taste all the memories I embrace Everything comes back to me so vividly that it's like reliving each magic moment. For instance, I can remember when I was just a young lad I had a goat named Billy who use to pull me around in a little red wagon. Then there was my first real love, a little red headed girl with all kinds of freckles, her name was Joy Jarmen. Each one of theses memories were simple and insignificant but they had a multitude of happy experiences attached to them. I could write a story about me and my Billy goat and another about my first attraction to the opposite sex.
It's so wonderful, specially if you're lonely at times, to relive the happy and what was to you the exciting memories of your past. There's a story in each one of the experiences that you've had and literally hundreds unfold to you as you reminisce in the past. It's said that when you're about to die your whole life flashes through your mind in an instant. It's remarkable how your mind can think about so many things all at the same time. Memories are all the treasures stored in your mind the parable being a library with thousands of books each one being a different event of your life. Can you just imagine if you were the author of all these books how many books you would have written. Just think? All the wild adventures, the special events, the love stories, the mysteries, and the tragedies that would have all been written by you and stored in your own library. Mind boggling isn't it? All of this . . . when you reminisce.

Motivation

This a topic that I'll stress over and over again as we proceed through Total Recovery. The vital importance of setting goals and outlining a plan to carry them out. Undisputedly it is the most common characteristic of all truly successful people. All the great achievers in the history of man have had concrete dreams, visions goals to reach their desired destination. Very few individuals in our society ever set goals much less make plans for there success. If you truly have the desire to succeed, setting goals is a must. To achieve your goals making plans is a must. With this in mind I'm going to help you by giving you the motivation to help you succeed in anything you set out to accomplish.

There are three important factors you need to concentrate on when you set a goal. The first one is Desire; you must have a burning Desire in order to achieve the goal. The second is Belief; you must have an unshakable and concrete Belief that the goal is conceivably reachable. Third you must be determined and Expect to see results. So the three factors are, Desire, Belief and Expectancy. To lend credence to the idea of desire, belief and expectancy consider the placebo effect. It's a proven fact that placebos used in place of real medications (without awareness) can result in positive thought that will effect a positive reaction.

I can't remember where I first heard this comment "A good goal should scare you a little - and excite you a lot." but you can bet your life that it's true. . If your current goals don't both scare and excite you set goals that are a little more challenging. Set your goals high but be realistic and keep them within reach. This is what Arnold Schwarzenegger, actor, sportsman and a governor had to say about goals; "The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it - as long as you really believe it 100 percent."

Expectancy is the hardest factor to create but the exercise on creative visualization can help exceptionally well. Since your subconscious mind is unable to distinguish between real experiences and an imagined experiences frequently visualizing the end result you desire you can cause your subconscious to accept it as real. This causes the mind to draw that situation into your life.

Think of different important areas in your life Sobriety, Friends , Family, Spirituality, Finances, ...etc. Focus your attention on the most important. Make a list and rank each area in order of its importance. Using creative visualization, visualize where you want to be in the next 5 years in each of these areas. By visualizing where you want to be five from now you have planted a long term vision in your subconscious mind. Now make a plan to accomplish your vision. You can use a combination of techniques to achieve your goal, Affirmation and Visualization together make a powerful resource.

As we advance through Total Recovery I'll give you a number of exercises that you will find very effective to accomplish your goals and change your way of thinking. When you take that first step, no matter how small, you set the wheels in motion for your mind to go to work and make your dreams a reality.

It sure doesn't hurt to get a little motivation to make your tasks easier. Just hitting on the right thought might do the trick. What I want to accomplish in this section of Total Recovery is put together thoughts and ideas in no particular order that stimulate your desire to change your way of thinking. This section is only meant as comfort exercise that will hopefully stimulate your thoughts as well as your actions. What I'm trying is an experiment using thoughts and ideas that came to me while meditating.

What I want to do for you, and I will, if you let me, is stimulate your thought process and motivate your desires. Together will find the tools along the way. Getting started is the hardest part of any job. If you have the courage to start then with the proper motivation you will have the courage to finish.
Keep away from the people who want to belittle your ambitions, small people do that, but the really great make you feel like you to can be really great.

Don't let frustration caused by unresolved problems get you down. Life is full of problems that sometimes seem insurmountable. Nothing is impossible, you must stop, relax, and meditate then approach it from a different angle. If the answers don't come right away don't let it ruin your day, continue with your routine and come back later with a fresh outlook. Life is a process of finding solutions.

Each day a new door opens to all kinds of experiences and challenges. Meet the day with a smile and say to yourself that nothing no matter how big or how small will pass your attention. Meet all the challenges it brings head on and quench your thirst with its knowledge. Remind yourself that today will be a glorious day.

Here's a thought to carry with you today; To achieve success in anything you need to start with a dream. Know your dream. Know why you are doing what you are doing. Create the fire that's needed to connect you with your dream. Create the passion you need in your pursuit of success. Create a desire to reach your achievements. Success can be yours if you have the courage to try. May your wishes all come true and they can it's all up to you.

The reward is yours but first you must labor, plant your thoughts and ideas, harvest them and watch them grow, remember you will sow in tears before you reap with joy. You can put your thoughts and ideas down in black and white or whatever color you prefer. You'll find it fun and challenging and best of all easy. If you are like most the people I know you learn best by having some one show you the way. I won't tell you what to do, I'll show you how to do it and then it's up to you.
One of my favorite sayings is..."If it's to be, It's up to me." When you've decided what you want you've made the first and most important step on your journey to success.

Here is a poem I wrote about the power of words. I hope you find it motivating. I've always felt that by using the right words you could accomplish anything you put your mind to.

My Choice of Words

The right words used the right way

Could possibly save a life today.

By the same token words can leave a life broken

In the way that they're written or spoken.

Handle all powerful words with great care.

The very same words bring happiness or despair.

These are just a few words I use everyday.

I use these words to give meaning to what I say.

Love, compassion, understanding and care.

Peace, motivation, comfort, joy and prayer.

Smile, laughter, happiness and serenity.

I try my very best not to use profanity.

I use words that are simple and easy to say.

I try to make each word an impression in some way.

Sometimes without thinking I say the wrong thing.

My heart knows right away the hurt it will bring.

On this keyboard I type words for everyone to read.

I hope to give them meaning and some pleasure indeed.

I try to be careful in all that I say in my rhymes.

I want to touch your heart, activate and motivate your minds.

Songs, short stories, and poetry are my hobby you see.

They're not the best but they come from the heart of me

If I can paint a picture that you can plainly see.

Then I've made all my words go to work for me

If the words that I use are truly what you'd like to hear.

And if they bring you comfort make you laugh and give cheer.

Then behind my keyboard you'll find a man who is really content.

And I'll know that my careful choice of words was well spent.

Imagination

In this section I'm going to teach you the power of visualization and assertion to create Luck. It all starts with imagination it is the birth of creation. Using your imagination you have the power to create an image of anything that you want. Can you just imagine how wonderful it would be if your abusive problem would go away? Imagine if you will. a peaceful and financial free life. Your imagination can create all kinds of things and with the proper techniques you can make these things happen.

I'm sure you wonder what individuals do that give them the King Midas Touch? These people use this power in an unconscious manner in their everyday affairs. They are not aware that they are using some sort of power. They visualize their goals in a positive way and attain success. All successful people use it consciously or unconsciously. These people have tapped into a resource that makes luck happen and that is exactly what you and I are going do.

You can shape your reality; control your habits and gain control over the events that influence your life. It may sound incredible but believe me it's true, imagination can help heal your body, change your way of thinking and bring God into your life.

I'm going to teach you two techniques that I often use to anchor my control Affirmations and Visualization. I'll show you how to use these techniques to reprogram your mind and reshape your attitudes and behavior, in other words, change the way you think.

(A) Affirmations

The art of using thoughts, beliefs and attitudes of the happiest, most effective people on earth by burning their thoughts into your subconscious mind. To feel how they feel, and do what they do and get exactly the same results they get.

(B) Creative Visualization

Creative visualization is the ability to use the imagination to see images in our minds and make them come true. Through concentrating, feelings, and emotions it can become a great creative power that makes all these things happen. Used in the right way, visualization can make magical changes into our lives.

Now, almost like magic, in every single area of your life, you can literally erase fear, doubt & frustration and replace it with courage, confidence & willpower. In other words, your mind can spawn amazing coincidences to move you towards your goals. The coincidences could be things that were seemingly unconnected to you and beyond your control. However you do have control and it is my intention to show you how to us it.

Here is an affirmation that I'm sure you have heard, "everyday, in every way, I am getting better and better." but have you tried to place it in your unconscious mind. Repetition of thought will install this or any other affirmation.

Now I'm going to put you to the test and find out if you have been reading my book and using the steps that I have outlined. It's of prime importance to go over these steps, practice them and memorize them. From the day you first opened my book or visited my site all the steps that I've taught you have become a part of your life and will remain a part of your life for the rest of your life. Keep reviewing all of my material until it is embedded deep in your unconscious mind. When you think you have it down pat review, don't stop keep reviewing. You are here, at this place in time, to change your life and you will if you follow my instructions.

(1) Do the relaxation and deep breathing exercise.

(2) Now do the exercise that puts your mind in the Alpha State.

(3) STOP; (Brake Time) Do this exercise just before bed time. Choose a place that is quite where you won't be disturbed.

(4) START; Set up a timeline and place yourself in the present.

Past_______________Present________________Future

(5) Now put your mind back in the Alpha State. Visualize your timeline in a misty color. Look to the past and look to the future. See the color and hear the sounds of your different resource states. Anchor and move to the next step.

Note; We will use these affirmations A= I will always maintain a perfectly healthy body and mind. B= Positive thoughts, positive emotions, bring me all the benefits and advantages I desire. C= I am learning to use more of my mind and to use it in a better way.

You can also create your own affirmations:

Timeline. Past______________Present______________Future

(7) Walk slowly to the past, observing the states you have placed. Return to the present. Slowly turn around and observe your entire timeline in color and sound.

(8) Now walk slowly to the future observing all of the resource states in color and sound. Return to the present. Brake State and Re-Anchor

(9) Move one step to the right and place your first affirmation, move right one more step and place your second affirmation, move right one more step and place your third affirmation.

(10) Break, Test Anchor, Observe you affirmations in misty color and sound. Move five years into the future and stack your affirmations. Give them color and sound. Return to the present. Look into the future and observe all of the positive resource states. See them in misty color and sound. BRAKE STATE

(11) Anchor, Now walk your time line into the past and into the future observing all of your thoughts and affirmations. See the colors, hear the sounds, lock them into your subconscious. BRAKE.

(12) CONGRATULATE YOURSELF. You have just taken some powerful steps to change your way of thinking.

Visualization

Use your imagination for the visualization exercise. Close your eyes and visualize a movie screen six feet in front of you and four feet above the floor. Picture your mind as a projector that can project creative images on the screen. You can project anything that you want but make it something you wish for and desire.

Example: Let us say that your one great desire is to be a basketball star. Visualize yourself playing the game perfectly. See yourself making perfect moves and making every basket. Feel the joy of playing well and the excitement of winning. Project these images on the screen and mentally watch the game and marvel in you perfection.

If you have difficulty visualizing use a technique called streaming. In streaming you mentally describe what it is that you're seeing. Make the description as detailed as possible. For example if you're trying to visualize yourself in a luxury home mentally tell yourself, "I'm seeing a magnificent chandelier in my dining room with a highly polished solid oak floor. There is a light oak grand piano, just waiting to be played, sitting majestically in the south east corner. As you describe the image in detail you will find that the image also takes on more detail and your imagined image becomes more and more vivid.

You can combine your affirmations with your creative visualization to create a more powerful effect. As you're imagining your goal, simply repeat your affirmation mentally, as many times as you feel necessary. Don't be discouraged if you do not get immediate results. We are all at different levels of spiritual development and some of us have years of negative programming and negative belief systems to overcome. But overcome them you shall. Creative visualization can be such a powerful process when done at the Alpha level that just five minutes a day of practice can undo years of negative programming.

By now you have probably noticed how the exercises I use are all related. What I mean to say is they are all linked together and each new exercise introduces a new concept. For example I use the timeline to add resources , I use affirmation to burn the thoughts and ideas of other people into your subconscious mind, I use visualization to see images in our minds and make them come true, I use auto suggestion to change negative thoughts to positive thoughts and I use meditation to enhance new thoughts and ideas. All of these steps are used to change your way of thinking and I mix them as if I were making a hobo stew in a large cast iron pot. They are all powerful techniques when used alone but when used in combinations they become super powers. If I use them all together I have an exercise that delivers a massive explosion from our subconscious mind to our conscious mind.

This next exercise introduces a concept called Perceptual Positions. You've probably experienced this concept unconsciously but now you are going to learn how to use it consciously . I guarantee that it will increase your feeling of empowerment. Perceptual Positions is the ability to view experiences from different perspectives.

There are three definite Perceptual Positions. 1. Self Perspective: Seeing a situation through your own eyes and being aware of your own thoughts and feelings. 2. Perspective of Another: Seeing a situation through someone else's eyes and being aware of their thoughts and feelings. 3. Disassociated Perspective Position: Seeing yourself from outside yourself. Imagine you are looking at yourself and other people from a position out side of yourself, from over there or up there.

Here's the exercise; (1) Imagine a situation that makes you uncomfortable. (2) Paint a picture of that situation in your mind. Step outside the picture and look at yourself in the picture. (3) Move the picture further away and notice how your feelings change. You should feel more comfortable and at ease. By being outside the situation looking at the situation you will experience a new perspective. Your feelings will change from negative to positive. (4) Remember another uncomfortable situation, another and another and do the same procedure on all three memories. (5) Your unconscious mind will generalize this and do the same procedure automatically with future uncomfortable situations. (6) Congratulate yourself you've just disassociated yourself from an uncomfortable (negative) situation. (7) Now repeat the first six steps only this time deal with a positive situation. Imagine a wonderful experience.

Unless you have programmed your mind with prior exorcises this exercise my not work the first time. But don't give up eventually you will rewire and make your life more enjoyable.

Anxiety and Depression

The substance abuser has a tendency to prevaricate (skirt the issue) when it relates to emotions.
While under the influence, they can go through many stages from over friendliness, to hostility, to fear, to depression, to sorrow and then want to be left alone, thus skirting awareness and occasionally blacking out. Refutation (denial) of the abuser can lead to attacks of anxiety, induced by the substance used, severe worry, fear and repeated panicky can result in suicidal intentions. Getting help for these anxiety problems is a lot easier said then done. There has always been a stigma attached to anxiety. The alcoholic won't admit that he or she has a problem. They are ashamed and humiliated when confronted. Worries and fears show signs of weakness and the abuser slips deeper into denial. I've worked with clients who have schizophrenic disorders, bipolar disorders, and all kinds of anxiety disorders. Some are related to the cause of abuse but most are the result of the abuse. I may well be contradicted, but never the less it's again my educated opinion based on successful results that all the problems that stem from abuse can be self cured by positive thinking and a complete change of ones thinking.

While sadness touches all of our lives at different times, the illness of depression can have enormous depth and staying power. The first step in fighting depression is to understand what it is, how it affects you and what causes it. Depression is not something you can just snap out of. You need to nip it in the bud and alter your thoughts by changing your way of thinking. Many things cause depression. The cause we are dealing with is substance abuse. Ingestion of drugs into ones body causes a serious imbalance of brain chemicals causing a reaction that stimulates hostility, fear and depression. Withdrawal from any substance such as alcohol, medications and mind altering drugs, often triggers a deep and traumatic depression. If you have had deep depression or been close to someone who has, you know that it cannot be lifted at will or wished away. It has to be dealt with by eliminating the cause. Taking this step can make all the difference and I'm here to help show you the way. God has given me the tools, now I'm giving them to you so let's use them.

There is no need for you to spend the rest of your life in the Gray World. My intentions to help you move to the Real World are deeply Imbedded and Sincere. If someone had just come to me and said they were a victim of alcohol or drug abuse, I would really want them to know that there is a way out and that they could be helped, that they would get better, that they should avail themselves with an open mind to all of the options, get plenty of exercise, eat well, surround themselves by supportive people and keep on keeping on.

There is a whole lot of research telling us that, not only do prevention programs have a minimal impact, they often backfire, causing more abuse and addiction! This is because such programs constantly emphasize the addictive power of drugs and alcohol, thus damaging the tendencies of those most vulnerable. You have in your grasp the capacity to belief in your own capabilities, Granted, a substance can be more powerful than then you are, if you let it.

I'd like to introduce (A step I use often) a new, simple drug-free anxiety and panic attack therapy that can help change your life, It's fast and it's easy! It works! Palmtherapy...

Palmtherapy is a form of holistic treatment in which various areas and lines on the palms of the hands are stimulated in order to affect emotions and personality. Because the hand has a wide manifestation in the cerebral cortex (controlling motor and sensory sections of the brain), it's thought that the hands can influence brain activities related to emotions and thereby relieve phobias and anxiety.

The effect of Palmtherapy on the mind includes rapid release from anxiety, traumatic memories, severe fears, phobias, anger and grief. Palmtherapy helps to accelerate positive thoughts and behavior patterns, talents, self-esteem, motivation, mental clarity and willpower, Palmtherapy was invented by Moshe Zwang in Autumn of 1985. Since its introduction as a treatment for anxiety thousands have been helped.

Moshe Zwang says: "The hand is like a keyboard of a computer. If you know where to stimulate you can produce anticipated results."

I am not introducing this step to promote Moshe Zwang (however it will). I have used this method and I know it's effect. It is a valuable tool to add to your bag of tools. For help go to http://www.palmtherapy.com/

Now I want you to do an exercise that I have prepared just for you.

(1) This must be done when you are all alone and won't be disturbed.

(2) I want you to find a comfortable chair with a back rest.

(3)Loosen your belt, take your shoes off and remove any clothing that is uncomfortable.

(4) Make the room as dark as you can and visualize a large movie screen 6 to 10 feet in front of you.

(5) Make yourself real comfortable. Close your eyes and imagine yourself projected on the screen. You are playing the leading roll. This is a movie that will be nominated for an award. This is a great movie and you are the star.

(6) Now using your visual imagination I want you to step out of the movie and enter your body.

(6) Close your eyes tighter then let them relax.

(7) Shake your legs. (8) Shake your arms.

(8) Roll your head slowly around 3 or 4 times. All the way to the back, to the front and side to side.

(9) All your tension should be easing out of your body and mind. I f you still feel any tension go back. Concentrate on each step, visualizing each step clearly in your mind.

(10) Now think about the problem you wish to solve. Roll it around in your mind.

(11) Send your other self back to the movie to act out your problem. Think about solutions to the problem, step into the movie and show your other self the solutions. Help your other self solve your problems. Now sit back and enjoy the movie.

(12) Anchor, Test State and Break State by counting from 10 to 1 backwards. Open your eyes, you are wide awake, you feel better and you know what you have to do to resolve your problem.

Congratulate yourself you've just successfully used affirmation and visualization to embed solutions in your subconscious mind.

I created this exercise to change my way of thinking and I used it to write this book.

The next time you do this exercise squeeze your thumb and finger together before you start and you should drop right into the state. Each time you do the exercise you'll get better. The time will come that when you test state you will go right into a light trance. By regular use of this exercise you can get rid of your bad habits, replace them with good habits, change the course of your life, and by all means change your way of thinking. All the good things in life can be yours.

"Emotion Explosion"

There was a time when I hid my emotions because ,as a child, I was taught to keep my feelings to myself. I remember my mother telling me not to cry when I felt like crying and to smile when I felt sad. As I was growing up it was the norm to lie about my feelings. When I was asked how I felt I'd always reply, "I feel fine" even though I did not. When I'd get angry or really upset with somebody I'd say, "I'm sorry, I'm not mad at you" or "Please forgive me I'm just in a lousy mood". When I started drinking alcoholic beverages that is when it really got tough. If I drank to much I'd lose all inhibitions and if someone or something aroused my feelings I'd have what you could call an "emotion explosion". I'd go berserk and sometimes completely out of control. I remember a good buddy of mine once told me "I can't stand to be around you when you have been drinking. I never know when you are going to have an "emotion explosion". So I adopted the phrase "emotion explosion" and used it when I lost my temper. I can also remember the time when I met a lovely young lady and I told her I really had feelings for her. She replied to me, "Oh dear, I have an emotional explosion any time I'm near you". Now ain't that mystifying?

Coping With Stress

"Affection is triggered by the visual and audible differences that separate humans from other primates, such as white eyes, smiling and speaking."

"When you maximize your happiness, you do what is best for the species."

What is stress? When something happens to us that stirs up and threatens our emotions and we can't handle the situation with our inherited skills then we label the situation as "stressful" and react with a stressful response. On the other hand If we decide that our coping skills outweigh the demands of the situation, then we don't see it as stressful". No two people have the same coping skills so we respond to the same situation differently. Stressful situations are not always negative they can also be positive situations that we are not prepared to deal with. Some situations are stress-provoking, it is our thoughts about situations that determine whether they are a problem. How we see a stress-provoking situation and how we react determines its impact on our health. We may be motivated and recharged by the events in our lives, or we may see certain situations as "stressful" and respond in a manner that may have a negative effect on our physical, mental and social well-being. If we always respond in a negative way our health and happiness may suffer.

To help people cope with stress, find ways to let them safely let go of the stress that they experience or gain a greater understanding of the situation. Be aware of your own coping mechanisms and move to more functional means of managing stress.

Subliminal Messages

I have used subliminal messages through out my entire text. If you don't know what a subliminal message is. Let me explain; Self hypnosis, auto-suggestion, meditation and reminiscing are steps that I use to help you feed positive messages into your subconscious mind, messages that can latter be fed to your conscious mind. However subliminal messages fed into your subconscious mind bypassing your conscious mind give me a certain amount of control. It is my educated opinion that by capturing your attention with an interesting article, phrase or word I can make your mind susceptible to embedded messages. By reading my book you are unconsciously opening your mind to suggestion. All I have to do is capture that moment and feed positive thoughts into your mind. I've spent countless hours perfecting this method and I know that by putting the right power words and phrases in the right places I can transmit my thought to your thought. Since the object of my intention is to change your negative thoughts into positive thoughts I've hidden subliminal message all through my text.

Perception of subliminal messages is a type of subconscious cognition. Unlike unconscious tasks such as listening to one voice out of many in a crowded room or keeping track of a certain sound in a noisy environment, subliminal message cognition cannot be done consciously. A simple example would be breathing It isn't necessary to be aware of ones breathing, it is a normal reaction. Proponents of the power of subliminal messages claim they gain influence or power from the fact that they can avoid the critical functions of the conscious mind, and therefore subliminal suggestions are potentially more powerful than ordinary suggestions. Of course all of this is my conjecture but if it works (and it does) don't knock it. I honestly feel that if you were to read my book over and over many times that you would be cured of your abusive nature.

"The Ambiguity Principle, maintains that ambiguities constructed carefully can be tools of subliminal persuasion. Therefore when a stimulus has two meanings, and one resonates with a repressed emotion, the negative meaning is repressed the same way that the emotion is repressed. The repressed meaning will influences the subject on a subliminal or unconscious level. It is my presumption that the Ambiguity Principle and subliminal messages work hand in hand.

Here is how it works, subliminal messages give positive affirmations and send them directly to the subconscious mind, bypassing the more critical conscious mind. The subconscious then follows these commands to produce powerful and exciting changes in the way that you think, quicker than anything you can imagine

Subliminal power works by inserting positive thoughts in hidden power words while you are reading my text. My messages are completely unobtrusive, in fact, you probably won't even notice most of them even though I've made you aware. It's as though your core being and thought processes have been transformed - and you're beginning to feel more freedom and comfort with each reading.

Your subconscious will take my powerful suggestions and begin to make lasting changes in your life. You'll become more contented and less vulnerable.

You might think that by my using subliminal messages I have invaded your person. Change your way of thinking you are here to be cured and I'm here to help.

Spirituality

Spirituality, in a narrow sense, concerns itself with matters of the spirit. What exactly is the spirit? It is hard to explain. It could be the fundamental emotional and activating principle determining one's character. On the other hand, in religion it is the deepest part of the soul of man and the transmitting organ by which human beings can contact God. My interpretation is a little of both, a persons character and the deepest part of their soul that links between human and God. The spirit is the foundation of one's humanity and at life's end the spirit leaves the body. Therefore the spirit and the soul are pretty much the same. You die and your spirit/soul moves on. However while you are alive you are the spirit. Now I'd say that's pretty complicated. When I say I want to help heal your spirit basically I want to help heal the whole you, Body, "Mind, and Spirit."

Success, whether measured in business, family or love, is often determined by the "right" attitude. Unfortunately, maintaining that proper frame of mind, a positive attitude, isn't always easy. Sometimes, in spite of our best efforts, life just seems intent on bringing us down.
Inspiration, however, is rarely far away - if we are but willing to look for it. No one is ever born into life alone. Everyone has shared the bond of family, at least at birth, and for many people it is a bond that will follow them throughout life.
For many people it is the most important bond of all. No one person can ever experience all that life has to offer. It is only through sharing experiences, feelings and insights that we can hope to grow beyond our own meager lifetime.

My life has been drenched by the constant stream of people that come in leave their thoughts and ideas then quickly leave. People that deposit their love and understanding and a touch of their wisdom in my bank of memories. Of course I've had those who leave broken hearts and lay out the fragment of their shattered lives These people have given me insight and let me gaze upon the beauty and the ugly found in each day. All of these people have tattooed their footsteps right on my heart. To these people I owe the many values and structure that made me what I am today. I'm proud to be me and I thank all the people that made this a possibility. You are my ticket to peace and security. I'm not what you would call a religious man but I do believe there's a power much greater then mine. My God is a God who loves people from all walks of life. He loves his creations no matter what their religion or beliefs. We are special to him and he'll give us a helping hand and help us to understand. Yes.. my God lives in my heart and my soul and he's always with me where ever I go. I don't belong to any religion, I believe in all of them as far as they go. If you have a faith that you believe in and you live up to the doctrine that faith gives to you, you can't help but find salvation. At least that's the way my God feels. My God lives in a room built inside my heart so he's always with me what ever I do and where ever I go. When I do wrong he scolds me, corrects me and then he forgives me. Each day I speak to my God and ask him to guide me from harms way. Since he knows what I'm thinking and sees all that I do there's never a need to pray. My God knows what I need and he guides me and directs me and keeps the devil away. I love My God so I let him know and I thank him several times each day. No! I'm not a religious man and I don't go to church. My God lives in my heart and when I found him that was the end of my search. I'm thankful that he still loves me in spite of my past and I know that he'll be with me as long as eternity lasts. Today is the anniversary of my sobriety . I'm so glad and happy that My God found room in his busy life to give me this gift. I've found peace and serenity and the freedom to be me.........

This is what I sincerely believe and for no other reason then LOVE I want you to listen to me. I believe in what's solid and firm, something that's not a mystery and is easy to confirm. I believe in LOVE. I'm not sure that the Holy Bible was written under the influence of God and I don't know for sure that from here there's a here after. There's one thing for sure that I do know and that's the power of Love and how it can grow. Hate, disagreement and turmoil are a few of the things that cause war and destruction. Where as, true Love given is the quickest way to peace and serenity. Whether God sits somewhere above us on his throne to guide and direct us is still a mystery to me. I know for sure that if the foundation of our life is fortified with LOVE we will have a great destiny. There's a God in my heart and I call my GOD LOVE and my God's as strong and as powerful as anything that comes from above. Love is not something that you need blind faith just to know that it's there. If you open your eyes you'll see it everywhere. I believe in LOVE and that's what I wanted to share. You can have some of my LOVE it's from Big Daddy Cash." I really care."
...
Now it doesn't matter whether you are a believer or not I fully intend to help you cure yourself. But it will be a lot easier if we have God's help. Who or whatever your God might be. We (You and I) have covered many of the methods I use to stay sober and clean. Methods I use everyday and will as long as I live. I don't believe the AA program works as well as mine but I do believe that the 12 Steps can be one of the tools that will set you free.
The 12 Suggested Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous
1) We admitted we were powerless over alcohol--that our lives had become unmanageable.
2) Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3) Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
4) Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5) Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6) Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
7) Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8) Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9) Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10) Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
11) Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
12)Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

I picked up the following letters in an AA newsletter. I thought you might find them interesting.

'My Higher Power Had Gotten Through'

I had tried to get sober several times. I went to A.A., I went to N.A., I prayed, I detoxed, and still, I kept at it, dragging myself through the mud.

Finally, I went to rehab, got sober for six months, and the day I got out, I went staight to the bar. Hence, another 3yrs of misery.

Then one night, I sat in the clutches of my misery, sucking on a bottle of whiskey. I lit some candles, and there I sat in the dark of the night amongst the silence of the glimmering candlelight. Their waves of light flickered against the wall, and as I sat, the realization of what I was doing just glared at me in a sullen solemnity. And suddenly, I realized that my higher power was trying to reach out to me. I went to look in the mirror, and my face reflected the parlor of death - I was literally dying.

It was real, and I said to myself in the quiet of that night, that I was done, and it was like a sudden surge of power rushing into my soul - my higher power had gotten through.

The next day, I slammed one last spider-shot of whiskey, endured a final and painful round of detox, and I haven't looked back. It was the defining moment of a spiritual awakening like one I've never before, or since, experienced.

Love Poured over Me

I was crying hysterically, and then I just got down on my knees and prayed. I prayed from my heart, like never before. I begged God to heal me and to help me. I begged him to stop me from the insanity of what I was doing. I prayed never to do drugs again. Then I felt this tremendous amount of love pour over me. I felt such a sense of relief. I felt that God was right there with me. I was still crying, but crying tears of joy.

Tranquility

All alcoholics and drug users suffer from chemical imbalances caused by the substance they abuse. These imbalances can cause mood swings, stress, nervousness, a bad temper, excessive sleeping, insomnia, unexplainable outbursts, uncontrollable crying, sadness and frequent headaches. I can verify that this is a fact because all of the people that I've helped over the past ten years have had all or most of these symptoms. Personally I suffered every damn one of them. Since you are an abuser (admit it) I'm certain these symptoms have caused you to live in a life of "Hell", a life in the Gray World. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have freedom from these miseries? A life of ATARAXIS (Peace). It's not impossible and it can, and will happen if you are sincere. With just a little bit of my assistances and support and a strong and true desire (As Your Part) tranquility will be yours.

Here is something that I am sure that you've done when you've been completely inebriated (intoxicated) and out of control, taken your brain out of you head to examined it. All of us drunks and pot heads have done this (fortunately, I can't be included in that category anymore). I've learned how to do this when you are sober and in control, so can you. Using my methods you can replace all the bad with good in your brain (Mind) and find solutions that fix any problem or circumstance

Let's talk about Peace, Serenity, and Tranquility. Can you remember the last time that you took a moment to gaze at the sky or look at the ocean and see all the beauty they bestow .How about watching the leaves on a tree dancing in the wind or lovely flowers glistening in the sun. When you allow yourself to soak in and appreciate these peaceful moments, you can experience instant peace and tranquility. I call these moments natures relievers. Good music, works of art, poetry and literature are also natures relievers and a tool for instant relief from misery and pain.

It's easy to meditate using nature's relievers experiencing the simple beauty that is everywhere around us. Close your eyes and inwardly embrace the magnificence of all the natural surroundings the Real World has to offer. I know in the Gray World you don't have time for such nonsense. Abuse has robbed you of the joy you should be experiencing in life. When you feel anxious or stressful, take a moment and realize all the good things you've missed, then respond in a positive manner to the dynamic glories around you and rejuvenate yourself in rebirth.

I keep referring to Alcoholic Anonymous as a place where you can find some of the tools to maintain your success. AA has adopted the Serenity Prayer as major part of their program. When the serenity prayer was introduce to Bill W. (founder of AA) his comment was, and I quote "Never have we seen so much AA in so few words". (By the way for the sake of anonymity I don't think Bill W. ever revealed his last name) I agree with Bill W., that the Serenity Prayer is the whole concept off AA. I find the Serenity prayer beautiful, meaningful, and reverent. If you believe in God you should memorize it and use it often.

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Unconditional Love

Unconditional and Everlasting
I love you as you are, as you seek to find your own special way to relate to the world. I honor your choices to learn in the way that you feel is right for you.
I know it is important that you are the person you want to be, and not someone that I or others think you should be. I realize that I cannot know what is best for you, although perhaps sometimes I think I do. I have not been where you have been, viewing life from the angle you have. I do not know what you have chosen to learn, how you have chosen to learn it, with whom or in what time period. I have not walked through life looking through your eyes, so how can I know what you need?
I allow you to be in the world without a thought or word of judgment from me about the deeds you undertake. I see no error in the things you say and do. In this place where I am, I see that there are many ways to perceive and experience the different facets of our world. I allow, without reservation, the choices you make in each moment. I make no judgment of this, for if I would deny your right to your evolution, then I would deny that right for myself and others.
To those who would choose a way I cannot walk, while I may not add my power and my energy to this way, I will never deny you the gift of love that God has bestowed within me for all creation. As I love you, so I shall be loved. As I sow, so shall I reap.
I allow you the universal right of free will to walk your own path, creating steps or to sit awhile if that is what is right for you. I will make no judgment that these steps are large or small, nor light nor heavy, nor that they lead up or down, for this is just my viewpoint. I may see you do nothing and judge it to be unworthy, and yet it may be that you bring great healing as you stand blessed by the light of God. I cannot always see the higher picture of divine order.
For it is the inalienable right of all life to choose their own evolution, and with great love I acknowledge your right to determine your future. In humility, I bow to the realization that the way I see as best for me does not have to mean it is also right for you. I know that you are led as I am, following the inner excitement to know your own path.
I know that the many races, religions, customs, nationalities and beliefs within our world bring us great riches, and allow us the benefit and teachings of such diverseness. I know we each learn in our own unique way in order to bring that love and wisdom back to the Whole. I know that if there was only one way to do something, there would need be only one person....
I will not only love you if you behave in a way I think you should or believe in those things I believe in. I understand you are truly my brother or sister, though you may have been born in a different place and believe in another God than I.
The love I feel is for all God's world. I know that every living thing is a part of God, and I feel a love deep within for every person, animal, tree and flower, every bird, river and ocean, and for all the creatures in all the world.
I live my life in loving service, being the best me I can, becoming wiser in the perfection of Divine Truth, becoming happier in the joy of

My brother Jimmy was a confirmed alcoholic and drug abuser and because I wouldn't allow him to bring drinks and drugs into my home I wrote him this letter.

Dear Jimmy, My love for you is unconditional as a blood brothers love should be. I've worried about you and prayed to my God asking him for an answer that would relieve all your miseries. I've meditated for hours upon hours trying to figure out a way to help put you back in command of your life. If there was anyway possible I'd step into your ora and straighten out all your problems for you, both you and I know that's impossible even though my intentions are sincere. Even though I really want to help you I can't allow myself to be misguided by compassion and shield you from the reality of your brunt errors. To do this would cause devastating results subsidizing failure. Let's face it Jim you are my brother and I don't want to see you fail.

Even though I'd gladly change places with you it wouldn't work because in my new role I'd find success and in your new role you'd fail. It's the hard truth that I'm telling you and I hope it's not to late for you to listen to me.

Through all my meditation and prayer it's become plain to me, that if you're ever going to find happiness, peace and serenity it's all up to you. You have to take complete control of your life and be the master of your own destiny. My doing this for you would only eliminate all your incentive and go against human nature. To give you love in the form of protection and comfort just might be the wrong thing to do.

You've been stumbling, falling and out of control for a very long time and I know you've sought help from a good many sources. Nothing has worked because you've been looking in all the wrong places. Motivation classes, treatment centers and all kinds of therapy are not the answer for you. The answer is so simple and I know you'll baulk when I give it to you. But listen to me anyway Jim, I've been there and I know.

The first thing you're are going to have to do, and I know you'll strongly resist, is re-except the God that you know. Once this is done then you can again become the master in control of your life. It's almost impossible to do this without God on your side and very improbable.

Being the master means you except responsibility for all things that have happened to you. Regardless of what has happened in your life except the fact that it was you that made it possible. No matter what our stance is in life, we are there because we were or we were not in command. I love you Jimmy but my unconditional love isn't enough, I have to be strong enough and relentless enough to give you strong and true love.

With a little common sense and a whole lot of faith all things are possible. Somewhere in the Bible there's a scripture that reads; "Be not deceived, God shall not be mocked, for what so ever a man soweth, that he shall also reap.' And again it tutors, 'in the furnace of affliction I shall refine thee." There's your answer Jimmy, you're a person with much more then average intelligence so you know dam well that I'm right. Love, Cash

Jimmy never received this letter because he had already died of a cause related to substance abuse. His untimely death caused me to dedicate my life to helping others succeed where he had failed. Thus I finally realized that God had saved my life so that I could save others.

Learning how to truly love a person or a people requires that we abandon schemes, which shield loved ones and collective society from every bruise, bump, storm, or roadblock along the road of life. For complete love is not blind and not stupid. Complete love accepts people as they are and administers to their needs with wisdom; a wisdom which dictates that sometimes the most compassionate answer to a plea for help is a firm and unflinching NO.

Christian Redemption

I don't believe in any set religion but I am a Christian and I believe Jesus Christ was our Savior. He lived to teach the Christian concept and he died for our sins so that we could be reborn. I'm one of the lucky ones that was given a chance to be reborn here on earth so that I can be reborn again and enter Gods Kingdom. Nicodemus asked Jesus about rebirth in the book of John;. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God. In the book of Acts Peter explains being born of water; Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I also believe that through redemption I was forgiven for my sins and given a new life here on earth with a mission. My mission is to help others in need, to be reborn and live a clean life, free of substance abuse. So I have dedicated the rest of my life to people like you who are sick and tired of being sick tired and want to move out of the Gray World into the Real World. I promise to help and support you all the way back.

You may not be a Christian and you may be total agnostic or atheistic that doesn't matter to me, in my book your still one of Gods creations so I'll help you no matter what. Regardless of your beliefs you still deserve a chance to live a normal and productive life. And who better then I for I have been there and I know what you are going through. I also Know what your family is going through. Your sickness has effected your entire family to some extent. They need you and they need you totally sober with no chance of relapse. Families who are entangled in active alcoholism and codependency either grow together or they grow apart.
The family that recovers together stays together.

To change the subject for a moment lets change the analogy. I've heard claims from therapists and counselors that it's the alcohol content that makes abusive drinkers. Hog wash ! People way back in biblical times were getting drunk and abusive just as people get drunk and abusive today so who cares how much alcohol content there is in a drink? There are abusers looking to abuse. It's abuse that is the problem, not the alcohol content. You can sip whiskey, mix Rum with Coke, or whatever. As long as you don't get drunk and drink for the glory of God, you are cool. That's horse shit ! The argument for alcohol content, in my opinion, is a bit of a red herring. It is off topic. My stand remains, and is sufficient. It doesn't matter what we buy whether it be can of Coors or a jug of Seagrams 7. it's all the same. No matter how you look at it getting drunk in the first place is an abusive behavior. Staying drunk for long periods of time is a serious abusive problem. I don't know what brought this to mind, but I think it's rather interesting, don't you?

Anyway the reason that I included this section in my book is because even though my beliefs and your beliefs may differ I still respect your right to believe what ever you wish as long as it doesn't interfere with your cure.

Alcoholic Anonymous

There are several remarkable differences in my Total Recovery program and the fellowship of AA For example; AA claims that once an alcoholic always an alcoholic and complete abstinence is a must otherwise you'll slip and relapse. Where as I teach controlled drinking with no fear of relapse (Changing the way you think). Repetition of your thought process allows a social drink, a glass of wine at dinner time or one can of beer to quench your thirst or in some cases total abstinence. Everything can be done in moderation. A.A. encourages you to tell your sad drinking story in front of a group of alcoholics to release your inhibitions and help others to understand and abstain. I don't think this is wise, and I'll tell you why. Most people exaggerate when they tell their story about the cause and effect of their drinking problem. Believe me, I've listened to some of these stories and if I wasn't a cured alcoholic they'd drive me to drink. The most important part of my method of recovery is to change your way of thinking and as you continue you'll find out why. Putting your knowledge to work and using your mind as a master key can be the answer to almost everything.

The AA organization is world wide and reaches an estimated 100,000 groups with over 2,000,000 members in 150 countries. I can only work with about "30" people in my "1" little part of the world. But I can guarantee that my success ratio is 95%.

AA serves one hell of a lot of people and I'm eternally grateful for there existence. Of these two million people over half will reached sobriety for a period of time but relapses are frequent and the percentage of total recoveries is so low the percentage is hardly worth mentioning. However, since the middle to late 30s AA has helped thousands of alcohol abusers lead productive and normal lives at least for a period of time.. (AA was founded by Bill W. in 1935).

Alcoholic Anonymous hasn't excepted my methods even though I've proven they work. I can only hope that someday a large rehabilitation organization will use my book as a text as part of their recovery program. My solutions work, if not for everyone, for those who are sincere and willing to help themselves.

The meeting place for members of AA is called a fellowship hall and meetings are held several times each day everyday of the week. Each meeting starts with the Serenity Prayer and then a participant of the group reads the following statement from the AA book (The Big Book).

"Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety."

There are speaker meetings, discussion meetings, and step meetings, all scheduled with one purpose in mind. To help the poor unfortunate people who suffer from the sickness of alcohol abuse. The most common meeting that most people are aware of is the Speaker Meeting where AA members "tell their stories." They describe their experiences with alcohol, how they came to AA., and how their lives have changed as a result of Alcoholics Anonymous.

The AA program, offers a Twelve Step Program that gives the alcoholic a way to develop a satisfying life without alcohol.

As a recovered alcoholic I encourage the alcohol abuser to attend AA only as a stepping stone to recovery. AA teaches that once an alcoholic always an alcoholic. However I go one step further and teach total recovery.

Fitness and Nutrition

I'm just assuming that the only exercise you have been getting is when you bend your elbow, am I right? May I suggest at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity most days to improve your health (working out every day is best!). The list of good things about working out is endless, and you'll feel better about yourself after some moving around. If you have a healthy body chances are you'll have a healthy mind. There are many ways to stay in shape without participating in sports or working out at a gym. You can mow and rake your lawn, jog around the block, go swimming at a local pool, lift weights with a friend, take a long walk, you can even go dancing. I can't stress enough the importance of staying active. Strive to become physically fit and make it a habit to stay that way. Believe me, if you are healthy and feel good about yourself everything else you do will be that much easier. So change your way of thinking and make it a habit to establish healthy habits.

Proper nutrition is also important in maintaining a healthy body and mind. There are six main classes of nutrients that the body needs: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. It is important to consume these six nutrients on a daily basis to build and maintain a healthy body . This isn't hard to do if you combine your main dish with veggies, soup, and a salad topped off with a glass of water or juice. Eat small amounts and eat when you're hungry. If you have been a substance abuser for a long time exercise and nutrition have been in the trunk, now is the time to take them out and put them back to work.

It is a fact that improving the awareness of nutritious meal choices and establishing long-term habits of healthy eating has a positive effect on memory capacity, potentially increasing your ability to process and retain critical information. It is also a fact that physical fitness has the same effect. Now you know why I've included this section in my text.

Cardiovascular Exercises:

1. Walking

Walking is the simplest, cheapest and easiest form of cardiovascular exercise.

It is the best starting point for anyone who is just starting to exercise.

It is very low impact and is extremely convenient.

Start slowly, then gradually work up to walking longer and faster.

Finding a walking partner can help keep you motivated.

2. Jogging/Running

This is a step up from walking. It is harder and puts more impact and stress on the body.

If you are just starting an exercise program, work through fast walking before moving up to jogging.

3. Cycling

Riding a bike is an excellent, no-impact form of cardio.

Be sure to follow the rules of the road and ALWAYS wear a helmet.

4. Swimming

Swimming involves all the major muscles of the body.

It is no-impact and is very useful for injury recovery.

The major drawback is that you must know how to swim.

Success Stories

Put a half a dozen people together who have found success using

Total Recovery, and you have at least 100 years'

worth of experience and knowledge in one room.

Success stories that offer hope to the hopeless.

What I have written here is meant to bring hope and encouragement. If reading about someone else's recovery will be an aid in your recovery, then by all means that is what I'll do.

Dr. John Alan Princton

My first story is about a young man who was stressed out because he was unable to pass his final exams and meet all the requirements for his chosen profession. He had spent eight years of his life in college and his grades were satisfactory even exceptional at times. Like most young men in college he wanted to be accepted by his peers and enjoy the fun and excitement found in the college environment. The booze, the girls and the parties became a regular routine in his social life and at times took precedence over everything else. He found that alcohol was a great way to relieve his anxieties and get rid of his inhibitions. As academic pressures grew so did his use of alcohol. By the middle of his eighth year in college alcohol and other drugs became a controlling factor in his life.

This lads name is John and he has given me permission to use his name. After failing his finals for the third time John threw the towel in and quit trying. Gradually his friends who had encouraged him to drink and drug in the first place started to abandon him. John kept slipping into a nightmare, the place I call the Gray World. When he finally reached bottom he decided it was time for help. He tried one rehabilitation program after another. Nothing worked! Since nothing was working and since he was always miserable and depressed he made up his mind to take the easy way out. Suicide!

I found John in the emergency room at the VA hospital. His suicide attempt had failed and he was angry at the whole world for not allowing him to die. His hopes and dreams were dead, so why not his body!

I sat with John for several hours as the doctors and nurses fought to save his life. My only thought was, "This poor soul needed my help desperately." When John recovered enough so that he could carry on an intelligent conversation we started to talk. By the way, I seen a small spark of hope in his eyes that told me he still wanted to achieve his goals and live the life of his dreams. As we talked, I started to introduce positive subliminal thoughts into his subconscious mind. I wanted to encourage him to ask for my help.

After a long period of communication, covering John's life from the beginning until the present time, I started to break through the defenses he had set up. Finally he asked for my help. In no uncertain terms he wanted to get well. This was the beginning. John was ready to be reborn.

John read my book, not just once, several times. He followed my easy formula for success and he uses the simple steps that I outline for recovery on a daily basis. John has recovered simply by changing his way of thinking. He did it by himself with just a little bit of my help.

Dr. John Alan Princeton is my first real success story. He sent me his testimony, if you'd like to read it, it is the first one posted in my section on testimonials.

Bill Phillips

My next success story is about a close friend of mine but before I tell you his story I'd like you to read the tribute he send me. His tribute and others like it give my life meaning.

A Tribute To My Best Friend Cash Neve,

When I was locked in the world of anxiety and fear. It was a roughest and most hopeless time of my life. . Relationships failed and I was slowly losing the respect and trust which were the foundation of my existence. Nothing was working and over indulgence was killing me. . The meticulous grind of day to day living was dragging me down, almost as far as I could go. It was like my insides were on the outside ready to explode. The slightest addition of stress often tipped the balance, and I'd explode. I never really let my emotion show on the outside it was always hidden deep inside me. The world hasn't seemed to change much, but with the help of God and a true desire to get back on track, I have. In fact, I'm more functional, resilient, and successful then I ever was. I owe this all to Big Daddy Cash and his book Total Recovery. Bill Phillips

Bill was a struggling author of rhymes and poems. He was critic to many of my poems and short stories. His influence and encouragement gave me the insight to write what I write. He once told me that I needed to draw on my relationships with family and friends to create my poems. He said this is where you will get the right feelings to touch another heart with insight and your reader will discover a glimmer of themselves in your poems and short stories. Bill gave me something that I'll never forget and I am thankful that when he needed my help I was there.

Bill came from a family of heavy drinkers and drug users. His father was a dedicated alcoholic and his mother sold drugs to provide for the families needs. He had six brothers and sisters who were all users and abusers. So unfortunately Bill fell right into tha alcohol trap. Since he was a deep thinker he used drinking to relieve anxiety and feelings of depression. His subconscious mind was a dumpster for all kinds of bad feelings so naturally most of his decisions were bad.

I've notice that most people with God given talents are eccentric and often have emotion explosions. Bill was no exception. He had a temper that would detonate on the drop of a pin. Bill was one of my lucky students because he didn't sink to rock bottom before he sought help. He realized he had a problem and asked me if I could help. He has learned to control his temper, he has quit his drinking, and he has found success and fame in his writing activities.

My Story "Total Recovery"

This is my story and I'll do my best not to make it sound like an AA testimony. If you have read my book Lost and Found (The Story of My Life) you will find that what I'm writing here is a completely different version. When I wrote Lost and Found it was my first attempt to write a short story and besides that my mind was still foggy from alcohol and drug abuse. The book was poorly written and some what misleading and too much detail was spent on each issue or life events. This time around I'll stick to the facts and get right to the point. I'll try to make the story flow smoothly but I'm going to tell it in the form of a profile.

I was born and raised in Salt lake City, Utah. Spent six years in the Navy. When discharged I returned to Salt Lake. I lived with my parents for a few months then moved to Price, Utah to work in the mines and start a painting business. I met a beautiful young lady in Price, got married, bought a small ranch and settled down to raise a family. We had six lovely daughters and we raised them to be fine young adults. Everything was going great and I was proud of the life I provided for my family. Sometimes appearances are deceiving and at this particular time and place they were. I caught my wife with another man, left her in a violent rage, and returned to Salt Lake City. I said I'd stick to the facts and get right to the point. Well, I have just covered six chapters of Lost and Found in one paragraph.

Before I continue, I want it to be known, I skipped several life events that happened before, in between and after what I have just described. I have a good reason for doing this; I don't want to spend time on events that had nothing to do with my slip into the Gray World (The world of drugs, alcohol and crime).

It is easy to be verbose using a thousand words where just a few well picked words will do. As I continue I somehow want to create the passion, self expression, feeling and purpose behind the direction my life took, but there is none. The intensity to turn to alcohol and drugs had no purpose. The decision was mine (The fruit of bad thinking) and my destiny was hopelessness, despair, rejection, depression and most likely a painful death.

My story continues and for the next ten years I floundered through the filth, rubbish and wretchedness that clutter the streets in the Gray World. Steeped with alcohol and turned to crime for survival my life had lost all care and meaning. I wanted to die but I didn't have the guts to kill myself.

Suddenly one night, very close to death, stench with the smell of urine, vomit and alcohol, an angel appeared. She held out her hand and said take my hand and I'll save you. The angel was my youngest daughter. Her intuition told her dad needed her so she searched and found me. The doctors say that if she hadn't found me when she did I would have died.

It was an act of God, that day, which turned my life around and gave me the courage to cure myself. Through loads of research I found the steps to total recovery. From that day forward I've dedicated my live to those in need.

MY SUCCESS

I have two brothers, one who lives a relatively normal life and one who followed in my footsteps and became a hopeless alcoholic and drug abuser. I mention my brothers because they both were the inspiration, in one way and another, that gave me the determination to write Total Recovery and dedicate my life to helping those in need. I'm going to use their names because I don't know of any other way to express my appreciation to both of them for what they did for me. Jimmy, my youngest brother was the one who followed in my foot steps by giving in to the temptation of drugs and alcohol. Clinton, my other brother, was always there to pick me up out of the gutter and try to set my life straight. The power of addiction is so over whelming that no matter how hard Clinton tried to save his brothers all his attempts failed. The point I want to make is that Clinton was always there at beckon call. Jimmy lost his life to addiction but I'm sure God has other plans for his eternal life. Both brothers in, a subliminal way, influenced me to free myself of the abusive nature and return to life in the real world. It was through the power of love (unconditionally) that I found my success.

I wrote an article many years ago right after my recovery and I think it is only apropos that I use it here;

Feb. 25, 1995

"Success, whether measured in business, family or love, is often determined by the right attitude. It is only through sharing experiences, feelings and insights that we can hope to grow beyond our own meager lifetime."

Sams Story

This man asked me not to reveal his true identity. He asked for my help in the year 2001 since then he has become very successful and he is alcohol free.

This story is about a man named Sam and his exploits on the wrong side of the fence, or tracks, which ever you prefer. Sam was a very serious drunk with one mission in life. That mission was to make his life as miserable as he possibly could. He also had a death wish but lacked the courage to inflict it in one easy blow. So he was taking the slow way using alcohol as a poison, which in most cases ends up in death. This is only one of the stories about Sam's life on the gray side, he has many to tell.

I remember that day well, I woke up in the morning sicker then hell, and I had the shakes so bad that I couldn't hold a cup in my hand with out spilling its contents. This wasn't unusual; it was almost a daily occurrence, what was different was my clean attire and the clean bed that I woke up in.

As I slopped cold water on my face a vague remembrance of the evening before flashed through my mind. I had met a stranger who for some reason wanted to help me get back on my feet. I felt sure I was being conned but he was buying the drinks, so I went along with what ever pleased him. I remember that he owned a night club some where and that he was willing to give me some kind of a job, other then that, I couldn't remember anything else.

My only thought right now was that I had to get out of here and find me a drink, what the hell, most likely I'd never see this guy again, and if I did, I didn't give a shit anyway. I headed for the door and as I reached for the knob it burst open. There was the stranger and with him two of the meanest looking characters I'd ever laid eyes on. My instincts told me that if I wanted to get out of there alive I'd better strike first and make it count, and then run like hell. I was about to strike when the stranger stepped forward and said; "morning Sam, I got a job for yaw,"

Job hell, I don't want a job, I replied. "But last night you promised." Shit, you can't believe anything I say when I'm drunk. And you heard me; I don't want a job. Do I have to spell it out for you? "Come on Sam lets go down to the bar and have a drink while we talk this over." Holy shit, that did it, I needed a drink so bad that all caution just flew out the window. OK, I said, let's talk!

This all took place about six months ago, ever since I've been working for John R. (not a stranger any more). The best thing about the job was that I never run out of booze. John set me up in a small suite, on the top floor of the Miles Hotel. His bar was on the main floor of the Hotel and his after hour's club was in the basement. My job consisted of doing what ever John asked me to do, which at times became a little flaky. Every morning I was to open the bar in the hotel at 10 o'clock and stay until the day bartender got there, usually about noon. At night I just had to stick around in the club in case there was trouble and that's when I'd go into action. John knew that I had been in Special Forces and was highly trained in martial arts; I must have been pretty mouthy the night that we met. Anyway, it was clear to me now that John wanted to have command over this deadly art of mine.

I really wasn't surprised when I found out that John R. Was a big shot in the mafia? I knew that he had to be involved in the underworld because of his life style and also because he always had those two mean looking bodyguards with him. Up until now I had done a few illegal things to get my badly needed alcohol, but now I had fallen into the clutches of organized crime. You think my career, as a professional alcoholic was bad, the next year and a half as a participant in this organization was totally a nightmare. Why I'm alive, to tell about it is some kind of miracle. Guns, knifes, and prison have brought to a climax the lives of everyone that was involved in this family of crime, believe it or not I'm the only one left. And I was the one that was on the suicide mission. These experiences started a positive change in my attitude but it would still be a while before I'd stop wallowing in the filth of the gray world.

While Sam Simple was on the shady side of society his escapades seem to attract the victims of circumstance both the unintentional and the intentional. Sam was completely saturated with sin so it's not surprising that sin would envelop his very existence. No matter where Sam turned his present life style invited trouble and turbulence. It was almost like he was constantly being tested by some invisible source. Maybe this was all prewritten and had to be lived to fulfill a prophecy. I wonder if leading this kind of life provided the tools that were needed to change what appeared to be unchangeable. What ever the answer is, Sam was sure getting an education. His life in the gray world took him from one bad place to another sometimes even a worse place.

Sam was on a journey experiencing life from all aspects, good and bad. That would eventually give him the wisdom and the courage to return to a rewarding and socially acceptable life. Sam wasn't ready yet to make that return. Sam was trapped in a position with the mafia that would take him two years to break The truth is; John R. really did take a liking to Sam and if it hadn't been for this bond Sam would have been stuck in the mafia forever. Once a member, always a member, and if you tried to leave a contract was put out on you. That's all there was to it. Like I said, it took two years, Sam finally made a deal with John R. that got him out with no fear of retaliation. I think at this point Sam really wanted to make a turn about, but alcohol had such a hold on him he was unable to make the change. However, he did try.

Sam had an uncle who had made his claim to fame as an artist. Everybody called him Willy. Sam was Willies' favorite nephew and he cared a great deal for Sam and his well being. Willy wanted his art studio completely refurbished and he wanted Sam for the job. His offer to Sam was room and board, a meager salary and a painting that Sam loved.

The studio was an old three story house, registered as a historical site, it had some very interesting stories of it's own that dated back to the civil war. At any rate Sam accepted the offer with enthusiasm and the desire to make a new beginning. Let's continue now, with Sam's rendition of his life on the west side.

They say grown men don't cry, don't you believe it, it's a lie. I can't get drunk enough or hard enough to squelch the tears for what I've lost and long for. Sometime I sit in the dark clutching my bottle, hugging my dog and cry for hours and if you think that makes me less of a man I'll kick the shit right out of ya.

There's a song called Lonesome Love Songs, that I play over and over and each time I almost drown in the tears. It goes something like this; I've heard some lonesome love songs and they always make me cry but the saddest words I ever heard were when you said goodbye. A bell that is broken cannot ring, a bird with no song cannot sing. I said it didn't matter but I told you a lie, cause the saddest words I ever heard was when you said goodbye.

How could I go on without my Lily and my little sweethearts? Oh God, I miss them so terribly much, what am I to do? I don't want to go on alone, OH GOD help me, please.

The weather out side is really bad. They say on the news that this is probably the worst snowstorm Utah has ever seen and I believe it. Cars are completely covered under a blanket of snow and the snow along the sides of the sidewalks is well over the heads of the people using them, and it just keeps coming down. How am I going to get to the liquor store? I know! I'll call Dana. Who's Dana? Dana is a gal I met awhile back that will do anything I ask, unfortunately she loves me. Hello Dana, I need your help, the liquor store closes in less then an hour and I've got the shakes and need a drink bad. Please can you help? "Sure Hon, I can leave work for a bit, see you in a few." Oh boy, am I ever lucky, Dana never lets me down. To bad I can't see her in the same light that she sees me.

Now that I've got my bottle coming, I can calm down a little and get on with my story. I moved out of the Miles Hotel a few weeks back and moved into this big old house that I plan to remodel. The place belonged to my uncle, who by the way had been looking for me for a long time. He used the place to show his paintings, he wanted it remodeled from the ground up and he wanted me to do it. Hell, it was an opportunity for me to make a brand new start, so I jumped at the chance.

I could see right off the bat that this remodel job was going to take a long time so I decided to turn a small area on the third floor into my living quarters. I turned a large walk-in closet into a small kitchenette, bought a TV, an easy chair, and a slightly used bed and I was set. What I figured would be a six-month job took over a year and a half. What a wild year and a half it was. My drinking associates (you notice I don't use the word friends, there's a reason) from the streets found out where I lived and the place turned into a party house for out casts.

I look back at the guy I was during my days in the gray world and what I see is what a screwed up mess I was. My way of thinking and rationalizing was, to say the least, weird and my values weren't worth flushing down the toilet. If I needed a drink, and didn't have the money, I didn't think twice about rolling a drunk to get it, on the other hand if I had the money everybody drank. My strange way of thinking justified my behavior. It's said that alcohol numbs the brain; well I sure had a numb skull. My new home became the nest for all kinds of sinful goings on. Even at my worst I was always what you would call a functional drunk. All this means is that no matter how staggering drunk I got I was able to produce.

I refuse to call anybody that I associated with, during my ten years of elicit living, a friend (I hope you detect the sign of bitterness when I use the word elicit). If you have noticed I always refer to them as associates or acquaintances. I had no friends. Well, with the exception maybe Dana. All others would just as soon cut my throat then look at me. To tell you the truth I didn't give a bitching dam. Most of the time I didn't give a bitching dam about anything.

There are numerous stories that I could tell about the year and a half I spent at Willies but if I did this would no longer be a short story, it would become an encyclopedia.

One good thing came out of the time that I spent at the Willies Art Studio. I always had a special talent for building, remodeling, painting and decorating. In spite of the fact that I was totally inebriated the whole time that I worked on Willies place, the place turned out to be a work of art. A master piece that I can honestly say was recognized and praised by some of the best architects of that time period.

The place became well known as Williams House of Art. Not only did it house Willies art, but the works of contemporary artists from all over the world adorned the walls of the entire three levels. This was a feat that no matter what the circumstances of the time I will always be proud of my contribution. And amazingly as it seems it led to my next domain and the next rendition of my story.

A local contractor visited the grand opening of the gallery and was so impressed by the job that I had done that he sought me out and offered me, what was another opportunity for me to change my life for the better. Part of his offer was a two bedroom cottage on a lot adjacent to one of his rental properties. This would become my home for the next year or so.

Well you can't say that I wasn't getting more then my share of opportunities. As I've said before and I'll say again, somebody up there was sure trying to help me, even though their attempts were in vain. As it turned out, what could have been a nice career with a top firm was short lived and I was terminated because my bout with alcohol was getting worse. I was told that my work was the best but they couldn't put up with the rest. So after a year I was back in the streets again. Not really the streets, I was living in the back seat of my car with my dog. I'd graduated from rolling drunks and had picked up a new skill. The art of panhandling. My car, which by the way never had any gas in it, was parked in the back of a large trucking company right next to a hobo camp. I got to know the transients of the valley quite well. Factly, that's where I learned my new art. Each morning, flat broke, an hour before the liquor store opened, my dog and I would walk, about eight blocks, to the store. We always managed to panhandle enough to buy a couple bottles of cheap hooch and a couple cans of dog food. I want you to know I never bought cheap dog food, I always bought the best. Well, that's all for now! Maybe someday I'll return and finish the story.

New Lifestyle

CONGRATULATIONS You Are Sober And Clean. "NOW WHAT!"

You can return to where you were in the real world if that's at all possible. Or you can start with a clean sheet and put a new career with an attentive solution to a new and exciting lifestyle into your life. If you want to wake up and appreciate each moment for what it is, then I suggest we start with a clean sheet. Now that we have replaced all your bad habits with good habits and all your negative thoughts with positive thoughts it's time to put them to work. You have just returned from a bad journey so you deserve all the good things that life has to offer. I'm here to help you make the right choices if you'll let me

I found out late in life that if you want to be truly successful at what you do for a living it's much better if you are in business for yourself. When I recovered from alcoholism I went to work for a large corporation as an engineer. I worked for them for over 10 years then was forced to retire because my health wasn't quite up to par. They laid me off without any benefits and it didn't take long to go through my life savings. Prior to my drinking career I had my own business and I made enough money to raise my family with all the comforts life has to offer. I'm relaying this information to you because I don't want what happened to me to happen to you. I constantly hear that money isn't everything, but let me be blunt, money buys everything but love. And do you want to know something, even love is lost if it isn't fed and nourished, housed and sheltered. Like I said I found out late in life but it's never too late.

If you have a profession, and you love your profession then let us makes you the best at what ever you do. If your chosen occupation is beneath your abilities then lets find you a position that meets and requires your talents. If you're the kind of individual that doesn't like the responsibility of running a business and would rather work for somebody else then lets find you a company that pays a decent salary and gives you a good monetary retirement. With the knowledge that you have received from my book, and just a little bit of my help, you can do anything you set your mind to and be anything that you want to be. I know that to be a fact because I've done it. I'm 72 years old, I started my own businesses two years ago and I'm already making a comfortable living.

I have helped many alcoholics and drug users recover from their abusive nature but that's not where it ends. Rehabilitation after rebirth is quite another thing and needs close attention. Most of the people that I have helped are bewildered after their recovery. They have found one true success but "Now What". That is why I've added this section to my book.

I'm still working on this edition of Total Recovery and it won't be published for another month or two. So I'm asking you (the reader) for help. If you are a non-abuser or a recovered substance abuser and you are living a productive lifestyle in body, mind and spirit please help me finish this section. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything on the internet or in the libraries that supports my hypothesis that the helped need help after recovery. If what you send is helpful it will be added to this section and you'll be given full credit for its content.

Summary

Here's how the dictionary describes alcoholism: While the ingestion of alcohol is, by definition, necessary to develop alcoholism, the use of alcohol does not predict the development of alcoholism. The quantity, frequency and regularity of alcohol consumption required to develop alcoholism varies greatly from person to person. In common and historical usage, alcoholism typically refers to any condition that results in the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages despite negative personal and social consequences.

(1) AA as a source has given us two very efficient tools to aid in Total Recovery. The 12 Steps and The Serenity Prayer. I love to write and I read a lot and it's through books and written material that I find the secrets to success. You may scoff when I suggest Napoleon Hills "Think and Grow Rich" as a bible that will definitely aid in the complete cure of alcoholism, but let me assure you it works and so does "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale. By understanding and applying the thirteen simple steps that constitute Hill's formula, you can: achieve your goals, change your life, and join the ranks of total sobriety. Who knows you might even become rich and successful in the process. I would consider that a bonus Napoleon Hill uncovers the secret to great wealth based on the notion that if you can learn to think like the rich, you can start to behave like them. It is my educated opinion that if you can think like the non alcoholic you can live a successful alcohol free lifestyle.

(2) Do a complete overhaul of your mind and change your way of thinking. With me as a passenger you're in the drivers seat and you can and will cure yourself by using the exercises in my text.

(3) Open your mind, get a clear picture of your problem, find the solution, and stick to your guns. You now have the keys that will start the vehicle that will drive you to the cure. Remember I've been there, suffered the same that you've suffered, felt the same pain, and I can help. Don't hesitate to ask!

(4) Set your goals and make a definite plan to achieve them. Write them down and post them where you can review them daily. Again, take positive action don't let anything or anyone change your direction.

(5) Schedule a time to use auto and self suggestion, everyday. Don't put off what you can do today. In 21 days by constantly reminding yourself and taking care of things up front you will create new habits. Make sure non-procrastination is one of them.

(6) You can become the Master of Your Destiny if you use honesty and integrity as a guide line. Don't blame others for your weaknesses and failures. Everything that has happened to you has happened at your own accord. It was your decision to become an abuser no one else's. It's time to stand on your own two feet and be responsible for your actions.

(7) Use the relaxation steps I outlined for you to put yourself in a hypnotic state to use auto and self suggestion. Make sure you are completely relaxed before you start feeding your mind. It may take several times before it becomes effective but don't give up it really works.

(8) Use repetition and retention to amplify your senses. Learn to meditate at least once a week, more if so desired. Meditation will renew old goals and aspirations, it will also recapture old strengths and moral beliefs.

(9) Keep yourself physically fit by taking long walks, working in your yard, participating in a sport, working out in a gym and anything that keeps you moving. Keep yourself nutritionally fit by eating the right foods, taking vitamins, drinking several glasses of water or juice and eat small amounts several times daily. Keep everything in moderation.

(10) Again, make good use of the 12 Steps and the Serenity Prayer. They are both real good guide lines for daily living. Responsibility for one's actions is the pathway to freedom from alcohol and drug addiction. I was never a member of the AA Fellowship but I used the Serenity Prayer and the 12 Steps as a powerful tool to find and maintain my recovery. Take action now. Memorize the Serenity Prayer and use it. Go to the step sessions at a fellowship hall long enough to cover all 12 steps then use them as a daily guide be responsible, take action and by all means change your way of thinking.

(11) Practice unconditional love. Join in community events. Schedule everything we've covered and keep it up on a daily basis. Constantly work on changing your way of thinking. Remember there's no such thing as impossible, everything is possible.

(12) Review, review, and keep reviewing. Contact me for support and encouragement

(13) This is a highly condensed version of my text. However I've covered all the important issues and if you follow my outline you will enjoy the freedom of Total Sobriety.

We live daily in the midst of all manner of thoughts and ideas. Impulses that are reaching our subconscious mind. Some of these impulses are positive, some are negative, if we don't feed our mind daily with positive thoughts then negative thoughts will reach our subconscious mind with out our knowledge. All this time, (with written word) without your knowledge, I presume, I have been feeding your mind with positive thoughts and ideas. I know I have you reading my text but until you have excepted my methods and actually put them to practice, I want to eliminate as many negative impulses as possible. I have several hidden messages through out my written word which are primarily meant to reach your subconscious mind.

I'll end this chapter with a poem. Sent with LOVE from a recovered client.

TODAY I SMILED

Today I smiled, and all at once
Things didn't look so bad.
Today I shared with someone else,
A bit of hope I had.

Today I sang a little song,
And felt my heart grow light,
And walked a happy little mile,
With not a cloud in sight.

Today I worked with what I had
And longed for nothing more,
And what had seemed like only weeds,
Were flowers at my door.

Today I loved a little more
And complained a little less,
And in the giving of myself,
I forgot my weariness.

Testimonials

I sent out messages telling my friends I was writing a text book on Total Sobriety and asked them if they wanted to contribute their testimonies. I received so many replies that I might have to write another book just for testimonies. I didn't get pictures with all the testimonials. The pictures I did get I sadly removed them all because a few of the senders didn't want their pictures published in my book. At any rate I've got their testimonials and that's what really counts.

Dear Cash

" For me, the hypnotic exercises and self suggestion recordings were the key that brought it all together. I don't know if it's the same for everybody but it has really helped me. It also gives you something to do if you've got a craving that gets hold of you... just put on your headphones and go deeper! Plus, the times when I meditate are a trip in themselves. Feeling this good is as pleasurable as a glass of wine, and it sure does something to your state of mind when you realize you can really do it!" Thanks Cash you were a blessing in disguise Your friend forever, Jerr

Hey Buddy, If it wasn't for you I would be dead or in prison. Thank God you were there to help change my way of thinking. I'm back with my wife and kids and I have been sober and drug free for almost 8 years. I work for myself now I'm a remodel contractor. Business is great and for the first time in years I got money in the bank. Don't stop what you are doing for the likes of us. Your steps are better than any other steps, they work. Your Buddy Bill

Greetings Big Daddy I'm writing to you from our condo in Glendale Park. My husband and I were quite surprised when we found your letter in our inbox. You were the topic of our discussion just a day ago. We have a neighbor that needs your help. His name is Jimmy Brown and he should be contacting you real soon. We've had long talks with him and he has a true desire to change his life around. You did wonders for us and we will always give thanks. Both Bob and I will celebrate our rebirth next Friday. Five years Thanks to you. Five of the happiest and most rewarding years we have ever had. We want you to know that we are grateful for all the help and support you gave us and we will love you forever, Yours Truly, Cyndi Williams

How's Things Big Daddy? We miss you! Four years, three months, two days, and X amount of hours. And were still hanging in there. Great hearing from you. Will never forget you and the new doors you opened for us. My husband is really jiving, hit 200 clams last year, in case you don't know that's $200,000 and climbing. It's all for the thanks of you. You'll always be our Big Daddy Cash the greatest teacher on earth. You taught us, we learned and we won't forget. God Bless, Audrey C. 101

Dear Cashman,

Remember me Cashman you got me out of the clutches of the V.A.. My third time through the program. I was destined to failure until I met you. You had more confidence in me then I ever had in my self. I couldn't have made it if you hadn't showed me how to rebuild my self image. I remember the nights that I was so drunk I couldn't get up off the floor and you took my hand and said "Come on Jack if I can do it so can you." I'm so glad you never gave up on me. You showed me how to heal my self and now I'm strong and self reliant. I haven't had a drink in a long, long time. Not only did you teach me how to kick the habit you led me straight to God. I thank God everyday that he sent you to cross my bath you saved my life and my soul. Sincerely, JL

PS. Keep up the good work.

These are testimonies that I received from my friends, all success stories. I've got 82 more to post they are true and sincere and all friends that I am thankful for.

I did get one letter that I wasn't to happy with, from a director of SOS. I wasn't totally aware of the organization, but I am now. Save Our Selves was founded by Jim Christopher in 1986 and I certainly applaud him for the good he has done in the field of substance abusers. I would never condemn anyone for helping those in need. However one of his closed minded directors sure chewed my butt. I would have posted the letter but the language was so bad that I'd be embarrassed to have my readers observe what he wrote. I'll just consider the source and continue to do what I do the best that I can. Anyway I'd like thank Jim Christopher for the wonderful contribution he has given to humanity. Big Daddy Cash
